Words Conservatives Do Not Want to Hear

When I told a friend that this week's article was going to be titled, "Words conservatives do not want to hear," he said, "What's that? Are you going to say, 'I've decided to vote for McCain?'" Absolutely not! Perish the thought that such sacrilege would ever pass my lips! But he was close because the words do indeed involve the Republican presidential nominee, John McCain.

Reagan once said that the nine most terrifying words one can hear are, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Well, another set of words conservatives will find equally terrifying, were uttered by John McCain Wednesday when he said that he will, "return to Washington," to help figure out how to deal with the current economic situation. In other words, the man that brought us McCain-Feingold and McCain-Kennedy said, "I'm from the government and I am here to help." Can you hear conservatives of all stripes screaming in terror over that statement?

John McCain leaving Washington to campaign for the presidency has been one of the best things to happen to Congress in years. It was almost like a cloud lifted from the Republican Party and they have found their spines since his departure. Sure it means that he might actually become president and be bad for America as a whole but look on the bright side - he was not in Washington! We will jump off that other bridge when we come to it.

Rumor has it that this return by McCain to one of the biggest hives of scum and villainy on the planet, behind only the United Nation's general assembly, the cave in which bin Laden and his loony followers are holed up in, Hollywood and possibly the French Parliament, was prompted based on requests for Henry Paulson himself as Republicans seem to have found their conservative hats in the past couple days and put them on. They have been pushing back against yet another massive government socialist welfare program trying to be rammed down the throats of the American people. McCain said of the situation, "It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the administration's proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time." Translation, "I'm going back to Washington to teach these Republicans who is the boss around here and get them to accept some sort of solution which violates our Constitution. Hey - it's what I do!"

Be afraid. Be very afraid. McCain is returning to Washington to screw the American taxpayer and try to score some points to help him get elected over a man whose only real accomplishment in life is that he has actually convinced millions of loyal followers that he actually has a clue.

Just the words McCain spoke tell us of his plans. "I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people." Yes, that is right. McCain's answer to a situation caused by massive amounts of regulation and government coercion (i.e. "oversight") is to pass new laws and manipulate an already manipulated economy.

How many times are we going to beat our heads against this wall? John McCain seems willing to do it once again.

Let me state the obvious. If you do the same thing as you have done in the past you will get the same result. The answer to our troubles is clear, but McCain made a beeline back to Washington in order to do the same old things.

We do not need more regulation. Remember, McCain already wanted that in 2005. We do not need more government control. He also proposed that in 2005. We do not need more government coercion. Again, supported in 2005 by John McCain. We need more liberty. But that is something that I have not heard pass the lips of John McCain much, if ever.

Right now we do have a group of men and women in Washington who are at least trying to stop this latest government boondoggle. But here comes the FrankenMcCain's Monster to beat them over the head once again. I told you it was not dead and that the heart of the beast still beat. You said, "Oh, look ... he's finished so let's leave him be. What harm can he do now?" and refused to strike the final blow after the failure of his promotion of amnesty for illegal aliens.

Now this monster has been rebuilt and he is back to see how much havoc he can wreck. "UUUGGGHHHH!" he cries out wielding his club, "New laws gud!" If we do not stand up against him he will continue his assault unless we get our pitchforks and our torches and kill this beast once and for all.
