Ever sat in the
sunlight watching
the shadow of a man
smoking
in the dirt?

His
inhalations, holdings, and
exhalations
of breath less real
than
the shadow's reality
when seen
through the lens of
space
and time.

My words
spoken to you last night -
a mouthful of splinters.
The real a shadow
of the shadow.
