I close my eyes,
And see your stars:
Whirling, nebulous, endless,
Brighter than the pinpricks
That hang low in the sky tonight
And more dangerous to seek.
I lie awake, wondering,
Pondering, lumbering
Though wayward whimsicalities
And ducking dancing dreams;
I don't want them to connect
And keep me awake tonight.
Black-winged angels stand,
Resolute, silent, open-eyed,
But with arms now closed
And wings bloodied on wordshards,
Whispers of infidelities not yet healed:
Coincidences yield salt-stung winces
And the unspoken dream
That your promises won't be broken again.
And see your stars:
Whirling, nebulous, endless,
Brighter than the pinpricks
That hang low in the sky tonight
And more dangerous to seek.
I lie awake, wondering,
Pondering, lumbering
Though wayward whimsicalities
And ducking dancing dreams;
I don't want them to connect
And keep me awake tonight.
Black-winged angels stand,
Resolute, silent, open-eyed,
But with arms now closed
And wings bloodied on wordshards,
Whispers of infidelities not yet healed:
Coincidences yield salt-stung winces
And the unspoken dream
That your promises won't be broken again.
Hold me, and me alone.
