Homeschooling does not mean you have to give up the benefit of a second income. Many homeschoolers make decent incomes while teaching their children at the same time.
Homeschooling families run the following businesses, for homeschooling families. You can do the same.
www.Timberdoodle.com "has been serving the home school community with home education resources for over 20 years, specializing in hands-on learning tools and home school curriculum that seeks to honor Christ."
http://www.baysideschoolservices.com/ "Donny & Sandy Ball's Bayside School Services offers the best do-it-yourself standardized achievement tests… As graduated home schooling parents and test providers for 16 years, (they) know how important fair prices, easy ordering, accurate order processing, and prompt mailing of results can be."
http://www.familylearning.org/testing.html "Established in 1983 as Family Learning Association, the Family Learning Organization was incorporated in 1986 and received non profit tax exempt status the following year. FLO has since established a long history of serving the homeschool community beginning in Spokane, Washington extending nationally through its advocacy and testing services."
http://www.lovetolearn.net/ "We created our family business to share our home school resource discoveries with our friends. Everything we offer has been given the "acid test" of seven children, plus now a grandbaby! You'll find only tried-and-true products in our home schooling catalog."
These homeschool families or parents have centered their businesses on their homeschooling activities. Creating a homeschool-based business is a natural evolution for homeschoolers, involves the children in business, while making an income for the family.
If you do not want to start your own business, you still have many options to allow you to make money while homeschooling. For example,
~I am making money right now, just writing this article for associatedContent.com. I also have an income earning homeschooling blog.
~Homeschooling families run numerous EBay Businesses. To see if it works for you, sign up for an eBay account, and sell some homeschool supplies and other items laying around gathering dust. While you may not make a fortune with an EBay business, if you have a good or original product to sell, you can make a decent living.
~You sign up for an at-home business that caters to homeschooling, or just any interest you have. Criticalthinking.com, Tupperware.com, Discoverytoys.com, and many others would be glad to have you join them in their MLM-type businesses.
Should being an entrepreneur not work for you, you can find a way to do your existing job while you homeschool. With the price of gas and other utilities being completely out of control, more and more employers are open to telecommuting. If they will not bend, start your job search for a work at home job doing what you are currently doing. Since you are already working in the field, you will have a greater chance to get the job than looking for just any work from home job.

Post a CommentHere in the US, home education is not government subsidized. Any costs are borne solely by the family.
We use the library and other such resources heavily, as our tax dollars have already been spent to provide them to the community. Ultimately, how much we spend is entirely up to us.
It would depend on how much you wanted to invest. the government doesn't help at all. for us, we do not buy textbooks, and use the library regularly. excluding gas prices it may add up to $100 a year, drawn out across a 10 month period. it's pretty cheap!
I cannot grasp the idea for expenses of homeschooling. Are they being funded by the government too? thanks
