This growing field of opportunity for the at-home worker typically involves answering in-coming calls ranging from taking customer product orders to coordinating maintenance repair services. Many companies will allow you to work as little as fifteen minutes a day to full-time hours each week.
These jobs require you have motivation, excellent verbal skills, basic computer knowledge (including data entry,) and the ability to focus on details. Sales aptitude is also a major plus as many offer incentives for selling customers additional products or add-ons with their main purchase.
Equipment needs will include a computer with Internet access, a telephone, and telephone line. For most at-home call center positions, your internet access must be independent from your telephone line so that you may use both simultaneously. Speed of Internet access will also help to handle the phone calls quickly and proficiently, so investing in cable or DSL access may be a necessity.
Typical pay for an at-home Call Center Representative ranges from $7-$10 per hour. With incentive programs, $11-$20, and upwards, may be possible. A part-time agent may earn $5,000 to $20,000 per year, while full time agents are reported to be in the $25,000 to $40,000 per year range.
Key benefits to the position are flexible hours, convenience of working at home, and free training programs offered by call center companies. Drawbacks may include no benefits (ie: health insurance, holiday pay, overtime) and the repetitive nature of the job.

Other routes to pursuing job openings in this field are:
1) Tune into your local employment ads, call your local centers (consult your Yellow Pages "Telephone Answering Services" or "Telecommunications" sections) to inquire about available work-at-home positions
2) Ask around, especially on Work-At-Home forums, such as the one found at ClubMom® http://www.clubmom.com/jforum/forums/show/16.page?lastMid=204115.
Lastly, when you are applying for an at-home Call Center Representative position, be cautious of companies or individuals who require an upfront fee for information or investment money for software or training. Remember, this is a job, and like any viable form of employment through a reputable company, you should expect to receive a paycheck from the company for your work. You should not be giving the company your money in order to procure work.

Post a CommentIt is becoming more prominent for fees to be included as an investment in indpendent contractor positions. Whether called a processing fee, certiifcation fee or background check fee it is an investment that you make to begin your home based business. My advice to be to find out what the fee is for before discluding any company that does have an minimal investment. Also keep in mind that as an independent contractor even though there may not be any monetary benefits, there are many benefits that will still be cost effective and may make affording an outside source of benefits much more obtainable.
There are some places that hire employees and a few of them offer benefits.
