One area, however, that does not seem to call for secret shoppers as often as some of the others is the field of Healthcare. Mystery shopping opportunities for restaurants, retail stores, even hotels and amusement parks- recruiters looking to fill these kinds of mystery shop projects are posted all over the mystery shopping forums. Sometimes there are so many that a new mystery shopper may even be likely to feel overwhelmed by all the opportunities. Very rarely, though, in fact I can speak personally and more accurately say no more than exactly once, have I come across a forum post recruiting for medical industry mystery shopping assignments.
I am not entirely sure if this absence of healthcare mystery shopping jobs is a result of these types of shops just not often needed, or maybe it is that they are more challenging and exclusive and therefore reserved for only very active shoppers by the companies offering such services. It seems that this industry would definitely require a specially trained mystery shopper to properly evaluate, due mostly to certain liability and legal laws that come along with the medical field. Once you receive services from a physician regardless of the motivation behind it, that doctor or that business can be then held responsible for anything that might go wrong, any serious complaints you have, etc.
Either way, these medical mystery shopping opportunities are not widely advertised. So when I stumbled upon a company whose entire focus is on employing shoppers to perform mystery shops at Dentists offices, Doctors individual business or otherwise group practice, nursing homes and various other healthcare and medical facilities I thought it was worth mentioning.
Examine Your Practice, devotes its company mission to provide mystery shopping services for all types of healthcare businesses including: physicians offices of any type, nursing homes, assisted living communities, managed care groups, practice management consultants, and healthcare manufacturers.
The medical mystery shopping company is similar to many of the other well known marketing companies that provide mystery shopping services in terms of what an evaluation entails and what is expected of the secret shopper throughout the entirety of the project duration. As is the standard practice, the shoppers or agents for Examine Your Practice are required to fill out an extensive report following the undercover observation assignment detailing specifics related to customer service and physical appearance of the given facilities and whatever particular aspects of the business the medical client desires to have addressed.
While Examine Your Practice is very unique in using mystery shoppers primarily for healthcare and medical field assignments, there are a few other more general, all encompassing mystery shopping marketing companies that recruit agents for medical mystery shops as well.
The following companies advertise a need for shoppers for healthcare and medical mystery shops as well as various other types. While it cannot be guaranteed how frequently you will be offered a medical mystery shopping assignment it might be well worth applying to be included in the shopper database anyway if you are interested in a broad scope of mystery shopping opportunities.

Post a CommentInteresting piece! I love mystery shopping, and I recently accepted and completed an assignment that took care of up to $100 in vet bills and paid me out $25 for a quick check up for my cat! Also, recently for Measure Consumer (like the posted below me mentioned) I did a phone shop to evaluate customer service and appointment setting at a Dr's office. Just a phone shop though. Anyway, thanks for the article!
I have done quite a few healthcare mystery shops for Measure Consumer Perspectives. I know that they do patient shops, as well as mystery calls because I have completed them. My sister has done a few hospital job applicant mystery shops. She is an RN, and poses as an interested candidate. Just thought I would throw them into the mix, as I didn't see them listed. Their website is at http://www.measurecp.com. The shops pay really well, and their patient training is very easy to understand.
