Work at Home Jobs that Are Legitimate

Legitimate stay at home jobs are found on the Internet or in your local community. Large companies, small businesses, doctor's offices and magazines are just some of the places looking for work at home freelancers or employees. Work at home jobs allow you the flexibility needed to care for the kids or work at your own pace if you have medical problems that prevent you from working outside of the home. However, you do need to watch out for scams that pretend to be a real job, but only want money from you.

Freelance Writer

Freelance writers can work for many different outlets. Online and offline magazines are always looking for writers to submit stories for publication. Website owners look for writers to produce original content for their websites. Local businesses look for writers to produce content, sales letters, press releases and content for their own websites. Online websites such as Elance or Rent A Coder, have job listings for writers where people needing content writers can post job openings and writers such as yourself, can bid on the job.

Virtual Assistants

Virtual assistants can work from home for clients in other states or for local businesses that need help running daily operations. Businesses can set up phone systems to have assistants answer phones or can dictate business letters and email those files to assistants to type into letters. Virtual assistants can make reservations or use a remote login to the business computer to do data entry. These jobs can be found locally or online at many job boards or bidding websites such as Elance.

Transcriptionist

Transciptionists can work from home transcribing medical records for local doctors, transcribe recorded interviews for clients or apply for transcription jobs at job boards or online bidding sites such as Guru. Some transcriptionists transcribe police reports at home or do transcription for book authors.

Home Party Sales

Home party sales can be done online. Many businesses will set up a website for you and you advertise the product to drive sales to the website and make commissions on sales. Such companies that allow work at home positions with online websites and sales include makeup companies, candle companies, kitchen gadget companies and lingerie companies.

Call Centers

Call center operators can work from home. There are positions for outbound and inbound calls. You sit at home in your office and answer or make calls. Inbound calls can be transferred to your home phone via the company when you login to the phone system. Any information or support needed is obtained from the company's remote computer system. Such companies that use home workers include companies that sell items on TV, phone companies that offer support for their products and companies needing people to do phone soliciting.
