Work at Home Moms: Are They Really Working?
Some Would Say, "Work at Home Moms or Working Moms"? Who Would You Choose?
I started by asking a few people I know that work from home, what they thought. Of course they were flabber gasted at the thought of being labeled as "lazy mom's". Right away they were defensive. One work at home mom states, " what does a secretary outside the home do different than one inside the home"? Well I was curious to know too, so I took it to the streets.
I asked the secretary at a local dentist office (who asked not be mentioned) if she thought she worked harder than a secretary that worked out of her home. She stated very clearly, " working out of your home is not a real job and it isn't close to work in the real world". I was stunned!
As you can see, this got heated right away and there are very different opinions on this topic. Some people just don't think that you can work hard working from home.
Since I got such amazing results in just a couple of interviews, I have decided to go futher with this. I am working on a blog dedicated to "Working mom's". I am also working on an online chat forum for mom's to cast their opinions and have their voices heard. The forum will be for all working mom's and will be focused on what mom's think work is and isn't.
Part A of this assignment will be for me to interview all types of work at home mom's and all types of mom's working outside the home and gather votes. My goal is to see if people that work outside the home think that people who work in the home, work as hard as they do. Part B of this assignment will be to ask employers! I want them to cast their vote as well. I want to know if they think that hiring someone to conduct services from their home would be as beneficial to them as one working on site. Finally, Part C will be to ask companies if they feel they are an equal opportunity employer if they DON"T offer a work at home opportunity!
I am very excited to see the results of this assignment! I want to hear your opinions on this as well!!! I want you all to voice your opinions and be apart of my blog and forum once it is up and live!
I will continue to post with updates on my findings as well as blog and forum information. If you have questions or want your voice featured on my blog and forum, please let me know and when I check back on the response, I will take your information.
Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say about this one!
