Work Off that Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner Weight: Easy At Home Exercises

Summer
1. Take a Jog
Put on some sweatpants and go outside. It's cold right? (Or maybe it isn't if you live in Florida or something.) Well use your motivation for being cold. Get back inside as quick as you can. But first you have to jog or run around your house three times!

2. Wall Squats
Lean against the wall. Slide down as if you were going to sit on a chair. Once you reach the position of sitting on a (invisible) chair with your back against the wall, hold it for 10 seconds. Stand up. Repeat 9 more times.

3. Sit-ups
Do 10 sit-ups in the living room. Repeat 2 more times.
Sit-ups a little too hard? Try some crunches instead, they work just as well.
If you do crunches, you can try some side ones too.

4. Push-ups
Everyone knows this exercise too. Try to do 15, in 3 sets of 5 if you are a girl.
If you are a guy you might have a little more strength. Try to do 3 sets of 10 if you can.

5. The Bicycle
Lay down on your back. Put your legs in the air. Move your legs as if you are pedaling a bike. Count to 30 (not too fast) while you are doing this. Put your legs down for a minute and then do another set for 30 seconds. If this is too easy you can try to do it for a minute.

6. Lunges
Stand upright. Take a large step foreword. Lean into it and you will feel your leg muscles stretch. Hold for 5 seconds. Switch legs. Do 10 for each leg.

Some Eating Tips- ways to reduce calories
- Eat poultry and fish without the skin.
- Limit alcoholic beverages.
- Use lowfat dairy products
- Eat the proper portions: check out link #1 in the resources
- If a food is labelled "fat-free" or "low-fat", this does not necessarily mean that it is low calorie.
- Eat less sugary products

A tip on proper portions
- Mentally split your dinner plate into four quarters. The perfect meal has a starch dish in one quarter, a protein in the second quarter, and vegetables in the remaining two quarters. Chances are you are close to the optimal mix of nutrients and food.

Check out the Meal Maker here, evaluate what you eat and hear some information from a doctor:

Another good way to workout at home is through the use of videos. Here are a few I recommend:

Yoga for Stress Relief- $14.99
Crunch: Total Yoga $9.99

- I have this dvd and its great. There are two different workouts depending on what you want to do that day and each set of activities is a seperate chapter so you can easily skip around if you dont have time to do all the exercises or if some are too hard.

Crunch: Cardio Salsa $12.99
Carmen Electra: Aerobic Striptease Box Set $39.99
MTV Power Yoga $12.99
Billy Blanks: Ab Bootcamp $14.99
