Work-at-Home Jobs for Homeschooling Parents

Brenda Hoffman
Homeschool parents must seriously think about working from home before they ever begin doing so. You will also need to have lots of information, a good plan and plenty of support. This is because both of these things will require certain skills and abilities. Fortunately, they are one in the same but you still need to keep your eyes open so that you can be successful at both things.

Considerations

You will need to consider some things to ensure that you will be successful in doing both of these "jobs." You will need to be:

  • Very organized
  • Able to follow a task through until it is finished
  • A self-starter
  • Able to work even with the various distractions that are around you (i.e. housework, television, the Internet, toys)?
Most of these things will need to be worked through even if you are only going to homeschool. So, you may be surprised to find that you would enjoy doing both at the same time.

Tips To Help You Succeed

If you feel that you can homeschool and work at home, then follow these tips so that you will be more successful in both areas of your life:

  • Be certain to have everything you need for your child's schooling and your job (i.e. an organized workspace, office supplies).
  • Manage your time wisely but allow yourself to be somewhat flexible.
  • Make sure that everyone is getting enough exercise, entertainment and peer interaction.
  • Ask for help and support whenever you need it.
Finding The Right Work At Home Job

Now that you feel as though you have everything in order, it is time to look for a job. Some of the different jobs you may wish to consider include:

  • Telecommuting for the same company that you are currently working with.
  • Providing childcare in your home will bring in money and offer your child opportunities for socialization at the same time.
  • An at home laundry business
  • Pet sitting
  • Selling homemade baked goods
  • Selling crafts
  • Working as an appointment setter or customer service representative (These jobs have set hours but this may be beneficial in helping you to successfully schedule time to homeschool too.)
