Working on a Book is a Lot like Having a Baby

Putting it Together

AC FITNESS BOY
Usually when having a baby, there's the joy of conception. And when coming up with an idea for a book, this too can be a great moment. There's an ah hah moment that triggers the emotional hardwiring of your mind and makes the book come together after months of planning and writing and tweaking and editing. Then if you're like me, there's the labor of putting it into its final form to get it ready to send off to the printers. This backbreaking work of formatting and making sure your computer agrees you can do what you want to do.

But there's a lot of dreaming about the future of the book. You have to nurture that idea. Nourish your inspiration. There's the wisdom and worry, anxiety and discomfort about the book. Having a baby can make you gain weight, which seems to be the case with writing. But it's a labor of love, and can transform your life. Then once you become an author, or authority, you deal with screaming fans and the infancy of your career. Do you hob knob with the literati or do you work at your next book? All of this is extremely critical to the development of your book.

Once you decide to become an author of your pet project you need to take care of it, feed it, clothe it. Take pictures of it. And keep it safe. There are a lot of copycats that want your baby. There's a lot of freaks that won't lay off of your work. And then there is you, the doting proud parent of a book with copies to share with everyone. We all dream of writing a book it seems, but to make it a reality is really quite a feat. Sure we say we want a book, but once we get the inspiration, will we work hard to keep the dream alive?

Can we keep the dream alive, through the worry and planning and make It a reality? There's a lot of hard work ahead of you. Keep working at it. Keep dreaming that dream, dote on your book and you can be the proud parent of a book. It doesn't matter if you don't make millions writing, no one said that you had to. But keep positive, keep working and that dream will become a reality some day soon. Just you see.
