Working from Home: Legit or Scam?

Bruce Bostwick
The dream is known to actually work from home. How easy would it be to find a job from home and work with your own hours, your own boss, and get paid to do so? The question that does get asked is simple: Is it legit or is all just a scam? The answer is really depending on what type of web sites or advertisements that people listen to.

It is possible to actually make money from home. Time and effort must be put into it like any job in the world. There is no job that can guarantee you making money without putting some work into it. Whether it's selling products online, designing web sites, or even writing articles, effort needs to be put. I will go ahead and put down some of the common factors in deciding to work online.

1) Reputation-Before signing up for a web site check on the site's reputation and ask around with people who have actually used it. Why go into a web site and sign up without knowing full well what this company offers and if it is legit. By asking people, it can be in person if you have friends or relatives that have used it, or possibly on an online forum with actual people that can give details.

2) Contact-It is a key component when addressing questions, comments, or concerns in regards to any business or web site. Whether it's by email address or by telephone, it is important to have such information. Otherwise, without it, more often than not, it probably would be a scam.

3) Money-Always a very important factor. Starting a business will cost money with supplies. It all depends on what type of business you could be looking to run. If you are looking for work, there should be no fee whatsoever. Why would a person pay a company for work? Makes no sense to me. To put in simple terms, it would be like paying a company like Wal-Mart a fee just to get work, no sense at all.

There are ways to make money online though. For instance, some can offer in the form of surveys. Granted, there are some that just enter you into a contest but there are ones that will offer to pay you assuming you qualify for the study conducted. What does it take for that? It does depend on what you, the individual, are looking for. Freelance work is very possible but it is something that can't get rich overnight. It takes time, hard work, and building a strong reputation to get people to hire you for specific projects.

I think a lot of people trying to make money online are looking for income. But to really make money you need to build a business not and income.

Starting a business is always a bigger investment in time and money than people realize. Home-based or not. But very rewarding if you can make it work.
