Working From Home: Setting Goals and Staying Motivated

Get Around the Scams to Find Legitimate Opportunities

M.
You may have found yourself in need of income from a job that you can work from home. A simple search on a search engine for "work at home" can yield many confusing results. It can be hard to figure out just where to start. The best way is to start out more informed about what types of jobs are available and knowing where to look to get hired with one of these companies. This can help you get deep into the truth of these job opportunities instead of just skimming the top of deep waters. Here are some tips that can help you greatly on your search.

I recommend that you begin by calculating the amount of money that you need to make each day or per month. This is not the amount of money you wish you were making, but actually the lowest amount of money per day that you really need to make in order for at home work to be worth the trouble for you. You should know right off that unless you have a degree or some specialized skills, general jobs offered for work at home are not going to make you a ton of money. Most of the time the work does not even equate to minimum wage. But if you have lots of time at home and access to the internet, you will want to get in on some money making opportunities. It's not impossible to make between $20-$50 a day. In order to make this amount you might have to work several online jobs, but it can be done. You definitely need to know how much you want to make before you start looking though because a lot of jobs might not give you the income that you need.

The next step is, get ready to work. Not at the at home job, but actually looking for the at home job. I have at least 10 or so jobs that I use to make internet income, but I find new ones everyday. The most important general rule about looking for at home employment is - never pay money or a fee for a job. Some jobs (EXTREMELY FEW) charge for training, but most of us cannot afford this anyway. The rest of them are ripping you off. Some jobs also want you to pay for training out of your first paycheck, you can make up your own mind about whether or not you want to do this, I personally don't mind as long as the money is working for me. Next, hit the forums. This alone can take hours or days. When you see company names being mentioned, these are your nuggets of gold. Research the companies you find and keep a list. Find the careers or jobs section or contact the company via phone or email. You might have to do this 50 times or more in order to find a good lead with a great company that pays that is also hiring. Working from home can be low paying and frustrating, so you will likely find complaints about many companies. My advice is for you to try the work yourself. You have to be a hard worker to be successful in a work at home atmosphere.

Check your email often. Potential work at home employers want to know that you are dependable, dedicated and that they can easily reach you. Respond as quickly as you can. Be prepared to have to send in copies of ID, bills and faxing information over to the potential employer. Often, by the time you read a posting for open positions, several hundred people have already seen the posting as well. Look in unconventional forums, read every posting looking for your nugget. You have to respond quickly because positions fill very, very fast. Keep trying, and soon you will get your job.
