This is the beginning of my second year of working from home. Now let me clarify. Anyone, wither it is man or woman, that chooses to stay at home is doing a work at home job. No one ever said that cleaning toilets and making beds wasn't a job really did they? A year ago I started to work for a company from home. Since then I have expanded and work for several different companies. I have written on this subject before, but I know it is one of the most commonly searched for phrases in search engines. It is a big draw. Once people grasp the concept that, yes I really do a job, and that yes I really do get paid for it, they are all questions.
First I answer phones. This is a great job. I log in on the internet, they route calls to my phone and I follow scripts that pop up on my screen. Sometimes it is hard, and sometimes you get rude callers. I have to think at times like this; wouldn't they just be mortified if they knew that I was sitting here, in my jammies, with my hair piled on top of my head, with my kids doing school lessons in the next room? And here they are yelling bad words in my ear. But over all I love my job. There are some great companies out there to work for. But they mostly require the same things. You need a second phone line and high-speed internet. You have to be able to speak fluent English. But there is fast becoming a market for those that are bilingual.
Another one of my jobs is that I am a proofreader. This is great fun. I get to read all day and correct errors that either the computer couldn't correct or the computer program caused. You have to pay attention to detail and have the knowledge to recognize misspelled words and common grammar errors. It's a lot of fun, well for me it is anyways. Think about it. I get paid to read. How cool is that?
And this is the really cool job, right here at Associated Content. I get paid to write. I write on subjects that I know about. To include natural health, food, coffee, blogging and working at home! I love to write and this gives me a sense of accomplishment. I mean really! It is like instant gratification, well kind of. If you write a book, it can take a year or more to see an actual result in the printed form. While here at Associate Content, it takes considerably shorter length of time. People come by and comment on what you write and you have access to what seems like a never ending source of reading material that other contributors are putting up at Associate Content too!
This being said, I am glad that I work from home, in my jammies. Going back to the brick and mortar world of jobs, would be a harsh reality check for me. I find that while I am not becoming rich, I am able to help pay the bills and have money that I have earned in my pocket. It is a sense of accomplishment. I mentally tick off everyday the list of things I don't have to deal with. I don't pay for gas in my car to go back and forth to work, I don't pay child care, I don't pay for work clothes, except of course for my jammies. The only power lunches I pay for is taking my kids to McDonalds. I guess that is the real payoff. My kids know their mom. I am right here for them, whenever they need me. Is there a bigger reward than that?
I start my second year of working at home, and I will continue to be right here at my desk, in my jammies, as long as I can find jobs that are willing to hire a smart, creative woman, who chooses to stay at home, but still be productive!

Kudos on working in your jammies! I would love that some days, but I would miss getting out of the house.
I've always thought that being a proof reader would be great. I love to read, and I'm pretty good with grammar (I got the highest level on the assesment at college)... but how do you get a job like that. Another article idea for you maybe?
