Working to Rebuild the Bonds with Your Children

Carrie Lowe
As life goes on, there are times when you simply do not want the headaches that your children cause on a daily basis. In order to minimize the stresses and hassles, it is very important to take some time to really think about all of the things that you can do to reconnect with your children, rather than drag out the fighting that you are used to experiencing.

Search for activities that you can do together. Things such as tossing a ball, watching a movie, or even working on a scrapbook page are great ways to share experiences with your child that you might not otherwise have. Plus, it gives you a chance to relax, and your child a good way to bond with you and let loose themselves. By making time for these activities, you are going to find that it is much easier to get your child's cooperation because all of your interaction is not bad, or focused around simply doing chores and schoolwork.

Make time to read to your kids each night. This is very important because it will allow you to connect with your child in the world of magic, fantasy and other amazing places that you read about in your stories. As you can imagine, it is a great experience to read to your child and watch as their imagination begins to wonder; you could even put the books to the side and instead focus on making up a story to tell your child that is designed just for their needs.

Look for special activities that you can do together, things such as running or even painting all make great activities that you could do together, and allows you to easily and quickly find an activity that you can enjoy together all of the time, rather than simply doing something occasionally. By finding an activity that you can share all of the time, you will have a much easier time of actually bonding since there will be plenty that you have to talk about, as well as do when you are together.

You should also take the time to ask your child what they are interested in doing. Many times, you will get some great suggestions from them of things that you might not have ever considered. This can allow you to quickly and easily brainstorm some new suggestions that will enable you to get started bonding sooner, than if you alone were working to brainstorm ideas.
