Go ahead and open your Microsoft Word program. Create a new document and save it. First, I will show you how to insert a table. Click Table > Insert > Table at the top of your window. When the dialog box pops up, enter the number of columns and rows that you want to use. Then click the OK button. That will insert a new table into your document.
Next, I will show you how to resize a table. You can resize a table by grabbing the bottom right corner of the box with your mouse. Pull the box down to make it larger or up to make it smaller. You can make the table narrower by dragging the mouse to the center of the table.
Next, I will show you how to change the borders of the table. You can change the type of the border and the color of the border. Right click in the middle of a cell in the table. Click Borders and Shading from the drop down menu. A dialog box will pop up. You will see three tabs at the top of that box. Click the Borders tab. On the left hand side of the box click the All box. Choose the style of border that you want to use under the Style field. You can change the color of the border by dropping the color box down. Drop that box down and select the color that you want to use. Click OK on that box once you are done.
You can add more cells to your table too. Right click inside of a cell and click Split Cells from the drop down menu. You can add rows or columns. Enter the number in the box that pops up. Then click the OK button. That will give you more rows or columns.
You can also merge the cells. Highlight the cells that you want to merge with your mouse. Then right click on the highlighted cells. Click Merge Cells from the menu. That will merge the cells and make it one cell.
You can also choose which direction you want the text to go in. Right click inside of a cell and click Text Direction from the pop up menu. The text direction box will pop up. Choose which direction you want by clicking on the direction. Then click the OK button.
That will get you started working with tables. Play around with the tables to get them the way that you want them. You can do many different things with tables.
