Put that television to good use. Instead of lounging on the sofa watching it, pop a DVD into the player and get moving. Working out at home doesn't have to be boring or repetitious with a DVD exercise program.

There are dozens of workout tapes, videos, and DVDs on the market today. Each offers something a bit different for everyone's needs. Most come with their own equipment for performing the exercise routines. Here are a few choices to kick start your workout sessions.

1. Tae Bo - Billy Blanks is the undisputed king of kickboxing. Through his workout programs that combine boxing and tae kwon do, hundreds of people have changed their shape and their lives from the comfort of their own homes. The workout routines are upbeat and motivating. If you mess up on a move, you can easily start again with the rewind feature.

2. Beachbody workouts - Beachbody is the creator of several exercise series designed to show you how to drop unwanted pound and sculpt lean hard muscles. Turbo Jam takes a page from the aerobic kickboxing book to present you with signature boxing moves performed to a funky beat. Other DVDs include P90X. Slim in 6, and Chalean Extreme.

3. Yoga - It is a form of stretching and meditation that has been around for centuries. Yoga workouts stretch the body while relaxing the mind. Through poses the body learns discipline and gains strength.

4. Weight bearing workout programs - Have you ever heard of the FIRM? It's not the movie starring Tom Cruise. It is a workout program that combines weights with intervals of aerobics to burn twice as much fat as cardio alone. The program promises that you will see results after only ten workouts. The instructors give great cues so you won't get lost in the middle of your workout.

5. Walking workouts - Not everyone can stand the pounding of aerobics on their knees. If you are one of those people, try Leslie Sansone's walking workout programs. You can walk one, two, or three miles during a workout of walking in place, kicks, and other aerobic moves. A counter at the bottom of your screen let's you know how far you have walked during the workout.

6. Dancing - How do dancers stay in such great shape? They enjoy what they do. Dancing workouts keep the abs strong and the rest of the body lean. Latin dancing, hip hop moves, ethnic dances, and other routines are fun to do and they help you lose weight. Pop in a DVD or turn on the radio.

Are you pressed for time but want a great way to work out? Start your own collection of exercise DVDs today and change your routine every day. Not only will you feel better about yourself you will also look better and have a healthier lifestyle.
