United States of America
The tragic day of September 11, 2001 is a day etched in the memories of most Americans, who can remember the day that the United States was attacked by terrorists on American soil. The Twin Towers in New York were hit by airplanes and collapsed, as many people watched live on TV and have relived many times in televised reports.
The World Center Hotel does not shy away from its location across the street from Ground Zero. In fact, the hotel promotes its locations as a place where visitors can see Freedom Tower as it is being constructed.
The World Center Hotel is the first World Trade Center Hotel and is the newest hotel in Lower Manhattan. The hotel is attracting attention because of its location and its marketing strategy. The hotel website promotes views of the rising Freedom Tower and the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum as attractions of the hotel.
Ground Zero is a 24 hour construction site, so there may be noise, but there is also the chance to see history in the making. How people feel about the hotel may depend upon their feelings about 9/11 and the new construction. While some are bound to feel repulsed by the location because of its history, others may see the rebuilding efforts as a positive step toward healing America.
Ground Zero is a 'must see' for many people traveling to New York, so travelers are likely to be intrigued with the the hotel location. If even a small percentage of those visitors book at the World Trade Hotel it should do well.
The World Center Hotel is a 169 room hotel which advertises itself as LEEDS registered, which is a designation for 'Green' construction and operation Amenities listed include complimentary high speed internet, 24 hour concierge service, club like lobby, modern fitness center and more.
The World Center Hotel is advertising introductory rates as low as $99 on weekends, although the lowest rate I could find over the next several weeks was $149 on a weekend.
The World Center Hotel is located at 144 Washington Street in New York, NY 10006

Post a Commentp.s. I've still added you as a fave :)
definitely a touchy subject , some family/friends of mine from NY don't like the idea at all and others do feel it's a step in the right direction for "healing", but I'm still torn on the idea, almost like they're marketing the sympathy, which doesn't persuade me to necessarily be sympathetic...anyway, nice write up :)

I'm not sure if anyone would be "repulsed" by the Ground Zero site. In my mind it is a hallowed place for the victims of 9/11, and an ever-constant reminder of our need to be vigilant in our fight against terrorism. Excellent article.
Hard topic to write about. Good article.
I think this would be a tough article to write. Nice way to write on a touchy topic and place. I was at the Ground Zero site for the first time two years ago. It's a very emotional spot. Again, nice job on this article. Laura Everly

Excellent! Great article.
Perhaps as time goes on, people will want to stay there but I think it might be difficult for many to stay right across the street from Ground Zero. Super update, though!
