World Change is Constant. Changing You Mind to Make Yourself Happy is the Most Important Work of All

Everyone Has the Right to Pursue Happiness and It's Already There If You Know How to Allow It

Peter R
Almost everyone has heard the song 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin. The song has a
very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone by singing about common problems and seeing life "problems" for just what they are, without having to attach meaning or emotion to it. However, even the most optimistic people seem to have difficulty just accepting the very real possibly of not worrying and just being happy.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life which usually appear in the outside environment and transform into stress due to our labeling of them. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke as well as clouded thinking.

Bottom line: to be happy is relatively easy; just decide to be a happy person. Realize that pride and ego are societal constructs, let those go and this should happen naturally as our creator intended and nothing can bother you. All that will be left is the natural brilliance that is a natural byproduct of living in a universe intelligent enough to put us here on the only planet in our galaxy capable of sustaining this kind of life.

Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose
how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

If just telling yourself that isn't enough, there are several steps you can take to do this.

1. Grattitude for the little things: Being grateful is a great attitude. We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your windows. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mails, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive.

2. Turn off the news.News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can't start their day
without their daily dose of news. Not surprising, since television is geared to hypnotize people and feed off their emotions. Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is
bad news, even though most of us never experience these things in real life. Starting the day with bad news about things we are going to do nothing about does not seem to be a sensible thing
to do, even for those who want to do something about them as the news may not be portraying an accurate picture.

3. Manage your time. Time, although an illusion, can be invaluable and schedules can keep a person from having too much time to think and let their mind wander, which is the root of much of people's suffering.

4. Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Laugh at yourself. When you laugh at yourself, nobody can stop you from feeling good. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. Laughter is indeed the best medicine, with science to back it up. Just look up therapeutic humor sometime.

5. Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people
around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. It can be verbally or through writing them down privately. Let go of pent up anger of frustrations as this can be worse for you health than smoking and overeating combined.

6. And finally and probably the most important: Live in the here and now!
