World Series Schedule 2009 Could Be Set Tonight

Robert Dougherty
The World Series schedule 2009 has one team set, and could invite another tonight. Once again, the World Series schedule has the Phillies involved, after they finished off the Dodgers. Now the World Series schedule 2009 could include the Yankees, and everyone expects it will. Even if the World Series schedule isn't completely set tonight, most expect the Yankees to join in on the weekend, at the latest. Either way, the hype for a Yankees-Phillies clash in the 2009 World Series has already started.

Tonight, the Yankees will try to do what the Phillies did last night, and finish off a Los Angeles team in five games. The Phillies joined the World Series schedule 2009 with a 10-4 thumping of the Dodgers, as their four home runs and surprisingly effective bullpen sent an early message to New York.

Phillies fans are already excited to face the Yankees in the 2009 World Series, as this is their chance to stick it to New York baseball again, after sending the Mets in a free fall for three years. But if the Yankees are part of the World Series schedule, which it looks like they will, they will be heavily favored - even against the defending champs.

The Yankees have been humming along even more than the Phillies in the playoffs, with unlikely wins, dominant pitching and dominant hitting. The Phillies have Ryan Howard and Cliff Lee, but the Yankees have Alex Rodriguez and C.C. Sabathia. And though the Phillies have the last World Series championship, the Yankees have 26 of their own already.

If the Yankees clinch tonight, the World Series schedule 2009 will be a long waiting game, as the first game is still set for Wednesday, October 28. The Phillies will have a week off, while the Yankees would have six days off with a win. For a series destined for massive hype and anticipation, waiting six days for it to start could be maddening - and another black mark on Bud Selig and FOX.

However, if things go as expected, Game 1 of the World Series schedule 2009 will be at the new Yankee Stadium, with the defending champs and America's team - and with red hot Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia facing off. With a clash like that on the horizon, the 2009 World Series will have massive expectations to live up to, on both sides.

yes the yankees have 26 or something like that but how many of those were recent exactly Phillies are the best now you can bring up stuff about when they won with the great bambino and all those guys but does that effect how they will play against the world champs I mean phillies beat everyone to get to the world series and won now they are trying to do it again you underestimate the phillies i like that boost yankees confidence because when they play the phills with the mindset that they will win they will be overwhelmed i guarantee u that
