World of Warcraft Alchemy

Alchemy is a very useful Word of Warcraft profession. It is a Primary Production Profession that allows you to transform herbs and other plant matter into elixirs, potions, and oils. Some of these concoctions can enhance the abilities of any character while others recharge their mana, health, and energy. Some mixtures are items that are required to finish certain quests and a few serve as reagents that are needed by other professions. Those that fall into the last category are an excellent opportunity for an Alchemist to cash in on their abilities.

Because Alchemy is a Primary Profession it counts toward your limit of two primary professions. Herbalism is the best choice for a profession to couple with Alchemy. This is due to the obvious need for herbs and other plant based materials.

You character is required to be level five or higher to start training as an Alchemist. There are four levels of proficiency in which you can train. Each of these has particular prerequisites that you are required to meet before you are allowed to move on the next proficiency rank.

If you want to have the advantage of finding and collecting your own plants in the wilderness then you should learn Herbalism. This will allow you to use the Herbalism gathering skill to collect herbs on your own so that you won't have to rely upon other sources and needlessly spend your hard earned gold on supplies. Another way of getting the ingredients that you need is trading with other players. You can also acquire needed supplies by purchasing them from an Herbalist Supplier. Another useful profession is fishing. Because this is a secondary profession, it won't count toward your limit of two primary professions. Some very useful ingredients can be found by fishing.

Alchemy is great profession because not only can you greatly benefit from the items you create with it but your fellow players will as well. This is because you can create items that are useful to you and items that are useful to other characters too. Because of this, Alchemy has the potential of greatly supporting the in-game economy of World of Warcraft. Also creating reagents and potions that are needed by other professions is definitely an excellent way to earn some extra gold. If you become a primary source of reagents that are needed by other players of other professions to create items, then you can stand to profit hugely by filling that need.
