World of Warcraft: Cataclysm - Mage Frost Talents - Tier 1

Early Frost, Piercing Ice and Shatter

This article will serve as a guide to the first tier of Frost Talents for the Mage class in World of Warcraft Cataclysm, reflecting the new talent tree changes made with the release of the World of Warcraft expansion. These first tier of talents are Early Frost, Piercing Ice and Shatter. The first tier of Frost Talents for the Mage in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm are considered those that require no talent points spent on the Frost tree before being unlocked.

You must spend 5 total skill points in the Frost Talent Tree to unlock the next tier of talents, which can include Early Frost, Piercing Ice and Shatter. In addition, some talents require a specific talent be maxed out before unlocking itself, these requirements if present will be included below.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Mage Frost Talent: Early Frost
Early Frost has 2 ranks, does not unlock any other talent.
Early Frost Rank 1: Reduces the cool down of Frostbolt by 0.3 seconds, but only once every 15 seconds (casting again within 15 seconds does so without this reduction)
Early Frost Rank 2: Reduces the cool down of Frostbolt by 0.6 seconds, still only once every 15 seconds.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Mage Frost Talent: Piercing Ice
Piercing Ice has 3 ranks, does not unlock any other talent.
Piercing Ice Rank 1: All of your spells have +1% critical strike chance.
Piercing Ice Rank 2: All of your spells have +2% critical strike chance.
Piercing Ice Rank 3: All of your spells have +3% critical strike chance.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm Mage Frost Talent: Shatter
Shatter has 2 ranks, does not unlock any other talent.
Shatter Rank 1: Frostbolt does 10% more damage to frozen targets. All of your spells that hit frozen targets have their critical strike chance doubled.
Shatter Rank 2: Frostbolt does 20% more damage to frozen targets. All of your spells that hit frozen targets have their critical strike chance tripled.
