World of Warcraft: Feral Druid PvP Post 3.1

Get Your Druid Ready for Epic PvP Battle! Use These Strategies to Win Every Time!

Thomas Kearo
So you want to learn how to PvP your druid in the battlegrounds of World of Warcraft? No problem. I've developed some time tested tips for druid PvP in the world of WoW over the years of playing my druid. A lot of these principles and strategies might seem like common sense, but you'd be surprised at how many players neglect these simple strategies. A lot of them though, are things exclusive only (until now) to my play style in World of Warcraft. So let's get down to business, and add to your arsenal some strategies that will have your opponents choking on your dust in the World of Warcraft battlegrounds.

In order to really understand the extensive abilities of a druid, one must first understand the overall role of a druid in the battlegrounds. We're a lot different from other classes in that we can do a host of different things, but that doesn't mean we should try to do them all of the time. If you're spec'd feral, don't come out unless you absolutely need to. A lot of times, players get addicted to the multi-tasking ability of a druid and forget that you're at your strongest when you focus on just one thing. This is one of the most crucial ideologies to remember as you're PvPing your druid. In order to hold your own, you must stick to just one play style. There is one exception to the rule as you're playing your druid. There is a difference between getting addicted to the multi-tasking aspect of the druid and using the form switching effectively. You just have to know when to swap out. If you need to run, you'll have to switch to Cheetah, then if you get trapped, jump back to cat and dash. The druid must always be one step ahead of their more immobilization having captors.

Getting down to the actual play style now...use shred! I can't tell you how many druids I see just bouncing around randomly mangling people. In order to play the WoW druid well, you have to understand that Mangle is not a very good move in itself. The only thing that makes it worthwhile is that it allows your Shred to do more damage. It's tru, while Shred takes more mana, if you pay attention to the feral tree, you can spec it down so it only costs 2 more energy to use than mangle. Don't mangle unless you have to renew the debuff to power up your shred! If there was a bible for druid PvP in World of Warcraft, this would be the most important proverb!

Get Feral Swiftness. It might not seem that useful because it doesn't add to your damage, but a 30% increase to your speed while in cat form is a godsend. How many times have you had an injured opponent, on the brink of death run away from you? How many times did you wish you could just catch that player as they go running the flag into your throne room in WSG? Not anymore. With Feral swiftness, even if the opponent has speed buffs, you're going to be just as fast, if not faster. Still, if that's not enough, you've got dash. Dash combined with Feral Swiftness wins games. It's as simple as that. Whether you're running the flag, running after the flag, rushing to an Arathi base before the other teams takes it etc, you don't want to be caught without this amazing talent.

  • Mangle should only be used to renew to debuff for Shred!
  • Feral Swiftness will WIN you battles. It's passive, but it's effects are not!
  • Druids have to know when to switch forms, but learn to not overdo it.
It's true, the druid is a highly versatile class. Because of this, they're a lot of fun to play. You're still going to have to specialize to be good though. Don't get away from your main goal in favor of novelty talents.

"Shred takes more mana, if you pay attention to the feral tree, you can spec it down so it only costs 2 more energy to use than mangle."

Take your own advice and pay attention to the feral tree.. you can spec mangle down so that it costs 8 energy less than a talented shred.

I will not be checking out any more of your articles since this one is so useless and does not gear really any useful information.

I thought that this pretty much sucked. It was not in-depth at all. And feral dps doesn't use mana, it uses energy. Epic fail!
