World of Warcraft: Making Gold in the Game

A Guide for Beginners

If you are new to the very popular game World of Warcraft, you may be wondering how in the world you can make more gold. As you probably already know, gold is the same as cash in World of Warcraft. The more gold you have, the more comfortable your playing experience, due to the fact that you will need the gold for repairs, new weapons, clothing, and training in skills.

A very basic way of obtaining gold in World of Warcraft is by selling all gray items you can find. If you are new to World of Warcraft, it may take a while to make your first gold...considering the fact that you only start off with a small pack that can only fit so many objects. You may find yourself making many trips back and forth to a vendor in order to increase bag space for quest items, and in order to sell items for money. Any object that is 'grey' in color can be sold. You'll start off by making a few copper, but it does addup. As you progress in level, the monsters to kill will be a little harder, and will drop items that will sell for more than mere copper. If you find anything with green text, you're in big luck! This item is something you can sell for a considerably high amount, but do not sell it to a vendor, holdoff on it until you reach your local Auction House.

What you should also do to make money in World of Warcraft is to hold off on professions that do not involve gathering until you are of a higher level. Professions can end up being costly. You will have to train in these professions which come at a price. You will have to buy reagents and other items in order to advance. This can deplete your money supply significantly. It's important to hold off on this until you can afford it and still be comfortable. Many people are not interested in buying lower level items that you can make through a profession only because many people have 'alts', or alternate characters, that can help them obtain enchants, weapons, gear and other items without the help of someone offering the services.

Of course, many of the quests offer money as rewards. So the more quests you accomplish, the more money you acquire and the more experience is under your belt. Many quest rewards will offer you gear you can use. It is a good idea to not invest too much money into your gear from levels 1 - 40 only because it will drain your money relatively quickly, and that gear become out of date quickly because of how fast the leveling is. When you are questing, many things you kill will drop money. It has been noted that anything 'humanoid' has a higher drop rate of money. The more things you kill, the more money in your pocket as well as experience. So even if you don't need to kill a certain monster or humanoid, and it's in your way...go ahead and attack it! You have to be a little aggressive in World of Warcraft in order to make good money.

You can easily make extra money by becoming involved with professions that involve gathering. Gathering can be a miner, skinner, or herbalist. All you do is train to learn, and then you find the objects, gather them, and sell them in the local Auction House. You can sell them for a lot more there than a vendor will every pay you for them.

It is best to become best friends with your local Auction House. Whenever you find an item that is spelled out with white text, as opposed to grey, there is a chance that the item is important for someone, such as for a recipe or reagent, and there is a good chance someone wants to buy it. If you find anything with green text, you're in big luck! This item is something you can sell for a considerably high amount, but do not sell it to a vendor, hold off on it until you reach your local Auction House. The local Auction House is like eBay. You can sell items through it, and sometimes you are charged some money to put up an item, but many small scale items do not have a charge. You can make good money this way. If you are in Westfall, you can find several feathers that fall off the birds. These feathers are important to mages who are interesting in using a skill where they can fly without getting hurt upon landing. I have sold a single feather for 1 gold apiece. Familiarize with the local Auction House. You can makemuch money this way.

Whatever you do, do not..under any circumstance..."buy" gold with real money. This would be considered an 'illegal' practice and is subject to getting your account banned. It is definitely against the terms of use for playing WoW. Most of the sites that promise to give you gold in exchange for your credit card information are pure scams. A lot of the gold sellers will infect your computer with some type of malware that could end up being costly to you.

If you continue to use these tips in your adventures through out World of Warcraft, you'll make your first gold soon enough. Every copper adds up, and as you progress, your gold will increase and you'll be well on your way to World of Warcraft riches. Happy questing!
