You can easily make extra money by becoming involved with professions that involve gathering. Gathering can be a miner, skinner, or herbalist. Whenever you find an item that is spelled out with white text, as opposed to grey, there is a chance that the item is important for someone, such as for a recipe or reagent, and there is a good chance someone wants to buy it. These feathers are important to mages who are interesting in using a skill where they can fly without getting hurt upon landing. I have sold a single feather for 1 gold apiece. Familiarize with the local Auction House. You can makemuch money this way.

Whatever you do, do not..under any circumstance..."buy" gold with real money. This would be considered an 'illegal' practice and is subject to getting your account banned. It is definitely against the terms of use for playing WoW. Most of the sites that promise to give you gold in exchange for your credit card information are pure scams. A lot of the gold sellers will infect your computer with some type of malware that could end up being costly to you.
