World of Warcraft Paladin: Raiding Spec

The Paladin is Said to Be a Jack of All Trades and Master of None - We'll See About That

Yes, some will say that priests and druids can heal better than a Paladin in World of Warcraft. Some will even ask why the Paladin class exists because there are others that can do the job better. Some will even go so far as to ridicule you for playing a Paladin. In this informative article, I'll teach you some of the ins and outs of why Paladin's are not just useful, but essential in contemporary raiding environments.

The Paladin class is especially useful when you need a healbot that can actually stand up on it's own in front of an enemy. When using a Paladin healer and something goes wrong, you have a significantly greater chance of survival due to the platemail wearer's high damage resistance. Also, the Paladin has a slew of last minute techniques that can make wiping a bit more convenient for the everyday party. When played right, the Paladin can do things no priest or druid every imagined possible. Jaws will be dropped, and parties will inch out the encounter with a marginal, but effective amount of life remaining.

Essential World of Warcraft Paladin Healing Talents:

Sacred Shield - Sacred Shield has been significantly downgraded, but it's still effective. It can only affect one target now instead of multiple, but it's still an essential talent for raiding with your Paladin. You should become familiar with this talent as it's going to be a staple of your raiding experience. Every single player appreciates a last minute Sacred Shield coming their way. You can also bind macros for this talent, and begin to use it more effectively when it's able to interrupt your current casting. Sacred Shield is on the top of this list for a reason. Use it. Love it. I don't let any Paladin come into the raid without it.

Judgements of the Pure - This is partially a given, but a lot of people use judgements wrong. It takes a great player to use thier judgements effectively. The use of a single judgement can often make or break the groups encounter. In raiding, it's very common for Paladins to use Judgement of Wisdom or Light. That being said, those are not enough. You'll also need to partner these powerful sorceries with Judgements of The Pure. With that 15% Haste, it makes the group entirely more efficient, and without it, your chances of getting wiped increase dramatically. Think about it. 15% Haste. If you overlooked this while speccing, you're going to need to do some more reading and take a deeper look at the Paladin Class. It's alright though, we all did at some point.

Aura Mastery - Blizzard has done a great thing in putting this talent into World of Warcraft. In WoW, when battles are won or lost on the fringe, this talent makes all the difference. It adds a lot to the ability of the Paladin to remain self-sufficient. When you get this talent (and I hope you do), you'll notice a difference immediately. Also, this doesn't just help you in raids, it'll help sculpt your character in every encounter you're in.

Those are the top Paladin talents for raiding in World of Warcraft. With these in your arsenal, you'll notice a dramatic increase in efficiency and fun!
