When with a group, the Rogue's obvious job should be to act as backup for the Warrior or Paladin who is serving as the primary tank. They should utilize their ability to attack quickly by using skills like Garrot and Ambush before their targeted foe even has a chance to respond. They can also use Sap to it put humanoid mobs to sleep and lessen the burden put upon their fellow players during the heat of battle. Having a Rogue in the group can definitely help to even the odds if your party becomes outnumbered.
The skills of Vanish and Stealth allow Rogues the ability to scout ahead, investigate the situation, and quickly relay back to the party details about the lay of the land that allow strategies to be formed. Stealth and Vanish also come in handy when you need to sneak past a mob without fighting and Sprint can also be used when you are in Stealth mode.
Because of their high DPS, Rogues are also proficient at grinding and leveling. This gives them the advantage of being able to grind monsters very quickly and escape with great speed as well if the need arises.
There are three talent trees for the Rogue class and each corresponds to a different aspect.
The first is the Assassination Tree which centers on increasing your critical damage and improving the Rouge's ability to kill their opponent in a short span of time.
The second is the Subtlety Tree which is focused upon improving your stealth efficiency. This helps to enhance skills such as Improved Ambush and Sap. This enables you to up your speed and stealth level as well.
The third and final tree is the Combat tree. This enhances the Rogue's combat ability and is usually the first choice for those wishing to level and grind. Another great advantage to this tree comes with the addition of the Riposte ability which enables you to disarm monsters as well as other players.
As you can see, the Rogue class has many obvious advantages. They are also a great addition to any party because of their cunning and powerful attacks. If you enjoy lurking in the shadows and taking your enemies by surprise, then maybe the Rogue class is the perfect choice for you.
