Worlds Hottest Hot Sauces & Extracts

Jessica Rowe
Want to add a little heat to your meal, but can't find the right hot sauce? With so many to choose from out there, it can be a hard decision, not to mention frustrating. To make it a little easier, take a look at these five hot sauces and extracts, but be warned, these are the hottest of hot.

The degree of heat in a food is often measured by the Scoville Scale. It is a measure of the hotness of a chili pepper. The number of Scoville Heat Units (SHU), indicates the amount of capsaicin (a chemical compound which stimulates nerve ending in the skin, especially the mucus membranes), present. As originally devised in 1912, by American Chemist Wilbur Scoville, a solution of the pepper extract is diluted in sugar water, until the "heat" is no longer detected by a panel (usually five), tasters. The degree of dilution gives its measure on the Scoville Scale.

For the ultimate kick, and hottest hot sauce in the world, "Blair's 16 Million." Made with pure capsaicin, the hottest chili powder known to man. Just one little crystal can set your tongue on fire. Use with extreme caution. The Scoville Units for this hot sauce shoots all the way up to sixteen million. Now that is hot, and only nine hundred and ninety-nine bottles will be produced.

Blair's T-99 Reserve is rated between ten million and sixteen million Scoville Units. This is a food additive and should only be used for that purpose, not as a sauce. Only ninety-nine bottles of this fiery additive were made, and each would leave you sweating from the heat.

Blair's 2005 Holiday Reserve, has a base layer of Death Rain Nitro, than layered with twelve point eight million Scoville Units, that was gently heated to be able to flow. Finally it was topped off with one point thirty -three million of power. Making this sauce a total of fourteen million, one hundred thirty thousand Scoville Units. Hot, Hot, Hot.

Blair's 2004 Holiday Reserve, is more than double the size of Blair's standard reserves. The Holiday Reserve is made with a base of twelve point five million Scoville Units, a middle section of Red Habanero puree. Then finished off with a floating level of one point six million, this reserve of fourteen million, one hundred thousand, is sure to fire you up.

Blair's Firecracker 500 Reserve is over one hundred times hotter than a jalapeno pepper, and is a complex blend of fresh peppers and extracts. This product is also not a sauce but a food additive. It contains capsaicin extract, and ranges between nine hundred thousand and fourteen million Scoville Units.

The world's top five hottest hot sauces and extracts. They are sure to add that punch, you have been looking for in a meal. Just be sure to use with caution, a little bit really does go a long way. Keeping a glass of milk near by may also be a good idea.
