Worldwide Soccer Manager 2007

James Kent
The first real question when looking at this game is what is it a computer game or more of a soccer management simulation. I should also mention that soccer manager is not a new game that has suddenly appeared over the last few years, but is more an issue of rebranding. Anyone who has followed the history of this game will know that Championship Manager was the original name. The reason for the name change is because the company was split up and now there are two games Championship Manager and Soccer Manager. Most people consider the brains behind the series are Sports Interactive. Now Sports Interactive is now working on Soccer Manager. So if anyone is wondering which is the better game well that's your Soccer Manager.

I realize some people may not know the concept of the game so I will briefly overview it. First of all anyway that may be familiar with similar management titles such as Fifa Manager well Soccer Manager is very different. Games are not displayed as they would be in a Fifa type game, but uses text commentary and statistics. The one note I would give people who are new to the game is give it a chance believe me you can not make a decision on this within minutes you have to get into it. The other thing is if you do get in to you be prepared to give up almost everything else in your life because you just won't want to stop playing. Even when you have achieved all you want at one club there are still plenty of other clubs not to mention the true challenge of international management. I would encourage anyone who loves the beautiful game and who has not yet tried the game to give it a try, but be prepared to give up a lot of your free time. Now to address my main question is it a game or a simulation. For one thing I have never encounted any other computer game that is so accurate and full of so many facts and statists. I would certainly think of it as more of a simulation. Also it just doesn't feel like a game as it all feels so real. I would encourage anyone to try this game. If you are going try this game one big piece of advice is start with a lower league club as the expectations will be lower and success will greatly improve your reputation
