Worse Than Falling Down on an Escalator?

Son of a Glitch..

Paul Rance
As my Mother falls on top of me going down an escalator in Peterborough, and I'm lying on my back looking at some rather uninviting spikes, I'm thinking: "This is nearly as distressing as the recent AC glitches." Anyway, we both lived to tell the tale, though I can never be sure if this particular tale will appear on AC. There's a horror story for JL Carey there - getting sucked into escalator spikes, then not being able to see the story because of an AC glitch. For many on AC, the latter may seem the bigger nightmare.

Criticising Associated Content may be akin to biting the hand that feeds us, but it works both ways. You can have a page full of adverts, but without content those ads won't be seen. Some gifted people have left AC recently because of the glitches. Content is king, and no content is a pauper!

I'd been fairly fortunate until May 29th, when I first noticed the Unicorn Dog of Brussels had gone missing, but he must have flown away for lunch, because a few hours later he was back there, as if nothing had happened. Yes, I was only getting, at most, half of the notifications that my AC friends had been published, as well as my own, and a few links in my pieces had gone walkabout, but others have faired much worse.

As I write this I'm listening to the beautiful gloominess of Joy Division and 'Something Must Break'. Yes, I know, all a bit of an over-reaction here, but none of us like things going wrong which we're powerless to fix.

The people I feel sorry for are the ones who write a 5 or 6 page article specifically for Associated Content, and no-one gets notified when its published. At least the glitches teach us to hustle for the hits ourselves.

Several of my AC friends have written to AC to point out certain glitches, but they haven't received a reply. Not good PR. Anyway, if things don't improve, maybe I'll just end walking off into the sunset with my Nonsense Creatures and look for another home...

In AC's defence, I must say I'm thankful to Associated Content and all its contributors with positive comments regarding my work. I've published hundreds of poets over the years, and my own poetry and art, particularly, had been neglected until I joined AC. I haven't found a site for creative types that even comes close to Associated Content, but the glitches are wearing me out!

Finally, back to Joy Division. The singer on this album, Ian Curtis, is singing his heart out. Shortly after this live performance he had committed suicide. Kinda puts the odd glitch into perspective, but we humans often lose perspective. I don't wish death to anything - apart from glitches!

Yes, there are glitches and I feel we lose a lot of our page views because of them. I hope it will get better. I wish you good luck on your writing.

Fun stuff with a heavy ending.

Son of a Glitch! I missed this one, too! Well, at least I'm finally reading it...uh, 2 months later.

Oh, I hope you don't take your mythical creatures and walk into the sunset. I know it's frustrating, but hope you'll stick around despite the glitches. :-)

I totally hate it when I don't get notices that my faves have published. Thanks for the article!

I found a new glitch the other day. If you turn down an upfront offer and go in to re-edit, you have to download the image again!!! ;o(

Not sure, but it seems when they update parts of AC, the glitches happen. That's why I regularly click on my faves (such as you) to see what you've published.

Nice presentation. I am glad you and your mother are okay.

LOL - Son of a glitch. I like that! YES, the glitches are so frustrating and that is putting it mildly. I had four or five articles in a row that didn't have notifications sent out. So many of us are dealing with this very situation. Enjoyed the read, Paul!

It's so frustrating! I, too, am glad the Unicorn Dog is back. :-)
