Worship and Grow with God Through Music

Shawn Thomas
If you ever find yourself beat down by life perhaps you are missing something important. Maybe you were born and raised as a Christian but you lost sight of that. Perhaps you have been away from church for a while but still believe in Christ. Or maybe you have lost faith in Jesus and have become a non-believer.

Whatever your case is if you want to find Jesus Christ it is important to understand that you can. A great resource to check out is http://www.ccci.org/wij . A discussion is made of how to personally begin a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The first two principles are that God loves us and through our sins we have become separated. Through Jesus Christ we can become to have a personal relationship with God. This will allow us to understand the plan we are supposed to have and also experience God's love.

There is a lot more to this discussion that you can find on the link provided, but I want to jump into music and the power of music in helping you find God. Some of the best music and most powerful music I have heard is Christian music. It puts you in a place where you can feel loved and connected to the Lord. One of the most popular Christian songs is Awesome God by Rich Mullins. It is a great chorus and is upbeat and joyful. The message is clear: it talks about how God is awesome.

Another group I just discovered that does a cover of many of the songs I sing regularly in Campus Crusade for Christ is called Hillsong. They have different divisions such as United and Australia. You can listen to the songs on YouTube and they have music videos that go along with them.

The music videos are essentially stick figures of God, the Bible, Jesus, and other things that being a Christian is all about. Nevertheless, they send a great message and can bring joy to your life. Some of my favorite songs to sing with other Christians include "How Great is our God," "From the Inside Out," and "Mighty to Save," to name a few. You can find lyrics to these songs and pick up a guitar, drums, a keyboard, and a microphone and worship and sing with fellow Christians. I think this is a great way to grow in relationships with others and with God. God Bless.
