Worship is Not Just for Church on Sunday

Stephen St. John
"By faith, Jacob when dying blessed each of the sons of Joseph, bowing in worship over the head of his staff" (Heb. 11:21).

The image of the aged patriarch Jacob standing with the aid of a crutch, but bowing his head over it in worship is inspirational. How good it would be for us to worship the Lord with greater regularity. Oh that we would make our family tables into altars of Christian worship, our work cubicles into cells of prayer at lunchtime, our bedsides into command centers for spiritual warfare, and our sitting rooms into places for scripture study. The glory of the Lord fills the universe! Let us worship Him wherever we are.

Friend, do you know how to worship apart from Sunday morning? Read a chapter from the Bible. Say a simple prayer. Sing a song of praise in your heart to God. It is good for us to worship him because he deserves it and it is good for us because we need it. All of life is put into perspective before the throne of God. That is one of the reasons that Jacob, on the edge of eternity, leaned on his staff and worshiped the Lord!
