Worst Glitches in Fallout: New Vegas
Hidden Valley Fast Travel
Hidden Valley is an important location in Fallout New Vegas. It has to be visited numerous times during the course of the game. The Brotherhood of Steel is there and so are a few missions. The problem with Hidden Valley is when you fast travel there, the game can sometimes get stuck and freeze. It doesn't happen all the time, but I've taken to traveling to a nearby location and walking there instead.
Rex Loses Your Weapons
Don't ever have Rex hold any weapon or item you want back. If you try to use this companion as a pack mule, it will backfire. Once you put your weapons into his inventory, they disappear. I have not found a way around this, except to reload an earlier save.
Casino Companion Weapons Glitch
On the New Vegas strip, when you enter a casino you must surrender your weapons. It's usually not a big deal and you get them back when leaving. The problem is sometimes a glitch will happen when entering and exiting with companions. You will receive their weapons and they can't get them back. If you drop them weapons on the ground, there is a prompt that says "steal" but the weapon name doesn't appear. Also, you can't use the weapon if it requires ammo. Companions have unlimited ammo named MCA, and not a type you can find.
GI Blues Mission run around Glitch
During the GI Blues mission, you will be required to go find out what the NCR is doing. When you report back to the King, another member of the faction runs in and will get stuck behind Rex. The member will run fruitlessly behind Rex who does not move. You are stuck in this scene and can't do anything other then look around. The only thing to do is to wait until the member navigates his way past the dog. It can take a few minutes, but it does not crash the game.
White Glove Society Members Only Room
This is one of more visually striking glitches I've seen. It doesn't affect the game except you can't talk to one generic White Glove member. When I entered the room, there is a woman sitting at the far side of the table. I couldn't talk to her because she was glitched by another woman who appeared to be walking in place. These two woman where fused together at the stomach like Siamese Twins.
Guess Who I Saw Today Mission
If the ghoul named Calamity dies before Dr. Henry can experiment on Lily, the mission will get stuck and you can not complete it. Also in this mission, sometimes Dr. Henry will not experiment on Lily even if everything else is fine. Again, the mission will be stuck. This also affects the Auld Lang Syne mission, as you will not be able to recruit Dr. Henry.
The best way to work around the glitches in Fallout New Vegas is to save often, especially if starting a mission or walking great distances in the wasteland. The glitches I listed are certainly not all of them. There are plenty more, some of them freeze the game and others are just weird like characters floating in midair. New Vegas is a great, entertaining game, just be prepared for the bugs.

Post a CommentI waited I don't know how long for the ultimate edition to come out. I had to stop playing, because there's a glitch where I can't upgrade any type of weapon and I don't know why. When I go into VATs my character won't fire at the enemies and they kill me in slow motion. Also, when you kill different people or creatures, they either go into the ground and fall into some endless blue world, or they get stuck half way in the ground or wall or anything. I have to stop playing until they get it all updated because you CAN'T play.
Far from the worst glitches I've read and experienced but an interesting read nonetheless. While I do enjoy Obsidian games their series of open world games are generally really buggy, to say the least, that also includes their DLC.
oh and about using the dog as a pack mule, i dont think thats a glitch, i think they tried to stop you from using a pack mule that can hold unlimited items, so just dont use him. Dogs cant hold items anyways xD
The worst glitch ive run into, is when your character disapears in first person mode, but you can still see him in 3rd person. moving around will bring him back but you cant fire while this is happening. oh and ive found a few guns that will not fire for about 5-10 seconds after reloading, one in particular is the cowboy repeater, which is a great weapon eraly on so it is very frustrating. i refuse to play thi game now untill these glitches are patched. But i still love the game... just needs to be fixed.

That is a lot of glitches! I would be most annoyed if I played a game that kept messing up!
