Would Jesus Be Disappointed in Us?

What Would He Think of What We Have Done Since He was Among Us?

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

If Jesus walked among us
In the world we have today,
I wonder what he'd make of it
And what he'd want to say.
Do we expect that He'd be pleased
With what we have achieved
Or would finding us as we are
Leave his holy self bereaved?

He lived in his own present
With great hopes for things to come
For better lives for humankind
And eternal peace when their lives were done.
His teachings and His followers
Tried to set the faith out clearly,
But generations of
Imperfect humans
Twisted and maimed
In His holy name,
The things He held most dearly.

I'm afraid that if Jesus
Were to see the world today,
He'd roll right over
And never move
When the stone was rolled
Out of the way.

This is full of beautiful thoughts. I think Jesus would love us first, teach us again just as he did in his time, and have mercy on those who do not understand. I sure would like to talk to him now face
to face. I think Jesus would marvel over progress made in out time.
    Remember always, Jesus loves You!

Being a false accuser is pleasing evil, Miss D Chazan. Tea is much safer than your medication, it appears, Miss Chazan..

Wow, so well put on the human condition. He did predict it would be like this, though. But still, I'm sure it breaks his heart.

Ecclesiastes tells us "there is nothing new under the sun". What is now has always been. The spiritual leaders of those days were called "white washed sepulchres" by Jesus Himself. Human beings are prone to self-righteousness, greed, and the list goes on. LOL Jesus came just for that reason. Anyone who believes in Him and wants to be washed in His blood can do so. The choice remains for all, just as it was when He first came to this earth. What a Gift! I feel like you do sometimes . . . these days can be depressing and it saddens me to see the direction our country is taking. Yet, Jesus is still a Present help in the time of our troubles . . . Love your work, as always!

Since he knows us he knew exactly what was coming. We haven't changed since then.
