I am an attractive woman, a mother, and a lover. I always see who is in my line of sight, and I see you coming towards me. I am a professional at what I do. I get up every morning, have my cup of coffee, and get ready for my day. I primp with my hair and makeup as much as the next gal. I put on my slacks, button my shirt, and slide into my heels. I head out the door to get to work where I am an accounting clerk. Oh, how I have a day full of numbers and other's finances ahead of me. I jump in my half dead Mercedes that I pray still has 150,000 miles on it like they say. I get to work and gossip with the women in the office just like anyone else. I work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. When my day at the office is done, I head straight home to my two loves of my life. My son is 13, loves to skateboard, and has decent grades. I prepare dinner and sit down to eat with my family as any family does. I whine about how one number was off on this software or that and how it ruined my whole day. I do dishes and climb on the couch with my favorite guys. I watch my favorite t.v. shows just like you. I finally wind down from my day and begin to relax. I tuck my son in and tell him I love him and not to let the bed bug bite every night still. Then I crawl in bed with the love of my life and get lost in dreamland.
Tomorrow I get up and follow the same routine. I am an American that is what I do. I give my shirt off my back to the needy. I help an elderly person across the street. People come to me to hear their problems. I have many friends, and people love me.
So? Do you think you would know me if you saw me? I would say no. I am just like any American just trying to get by and doing what has to be done. My only difference is: I am a soldier. I serve my country one weekend a month, two weeks in the summer, and whenever the call comes in. I am a trained professional at protecting our country, our way of life, and our families. I am proud of my country no matter what economic status we are in, no matter who is my Commander in Chief, and no matter what war we are in. I deserve respect, but I do not demand it. I never ask you to praise me. I have seen and done things for this country that you will never know. I have broken bones in my body that I will never show serving our country. I never draw attention to myself or my military skills. I live my life like you. I laugh and I cry like you.

Post a CommentI read it all sweetie and I thank you for serving our country as I do all of our soldiers :) I am PROUD to be an American and we are ALL struggling. Why not live life laughing? Like in one article I wrote.. there is a difference between life and living. Life is too short just getting by. Now back to your article.... I would notice you because there is something I feel from people that draw me to them or away from them. I think it's a gift. You just so happen to set off that vibe ~smile~
For this article to be fully understood and appreciated, it is important to read the ending.
that picture is brilliant~ I doubt I would know who you are, but I'm sure I'd notice you. I am more the type of person that is curious about the story behind the person you pass in the streets that we'll never know. Always intriguing, but only a thought.
This is amazing !!!....such a thought provoking article !!!
I would probably have to admit I would not know your name but I always look at those around me. I never forget a face. If I saw you today and then saw you tomorrow I would know that I had seen you today. :)
Thank you. I would venture to say that if we passed each other on the street I would notice you. I know character when it's near. Thanks for a wonderful read this morning.
