Would Life Be Empty Without Children?

Coldfats
Children. What will we do with them? What will we do without them? Just as to some people, life would be empty without a mate, life without children would be equally empty. If not, more so. There are people who live in the fast lane, drive fast cars, eat fast food. These are the people, like many nowadays, who are wallowing in money and conceit. They think they have got it made just because money does not deny them their selfish desires. Little do they know that they are wasting their youth and missing out on the most wonderful gift they can give themselves or anyone. Children.

The best gift ever given to mankind is the ability to procreate - the gift of a child. Because of the increase in the standard of living and education, many, especially women, put their careers before family life. They marry later and decide to have fewer children. Tragically, some even decide not to have any at all. Career mothers, nowadays, tend to leave their infants in the care of the domestic help. The maid becomes a substitute mother- till the natural mother can find the time in her busy schedule to care for and tend to her own child. In the rat-race of life, people seem to have forgotten the joy of children in our live.. People should learn to treasure these young lives as they give real purpose for living. For- in the mad rush of life, they are the ones who still represent humanity and innocence which have since been eroded away as we get progressively older. Imagine the beauty of it all when two people who truly love each other unite and conceive a child! The child is the tangible significance, the tangible proof of that love- The joy comes in watching such a tiny creature, borne out of love, screaming and kicking, dependent on its parents. The joy of seeing a baby's first smile, first tooth, hearing his first gurgle of happiness, baby's first step, first word... the joy of simply watching a child grow and knowing that you have played a part in bringing it into the world and moulding him is indescribable, insurmountable. How can people go through life not feeling a tug at their heart strings when a child calls out "mummy" or "daddy"?

Of course, admittedly, the cost of providing for a child would cause a big dent in one's bank account. Not to mention having to get up in the wee hours of the morning to calm a screaming baby or to change a smelly diaper. These most definitely do not sound like ideas of a fun time! However, we must not forget that it is the joy of parenthood that counts and not smelly diaper-changing. Though there are people around who do not agree, children play a role of paramount importance in our lives. As we get older, we become hardened by what we see and by what we have experienced. This is a deterioration that ultimately ends in our self-destruction. However, we should not fail to realise that we have the ability to salvage the situation. Children can be seen as little "saviours"!

What they represent are innocence and most importantly, humanity. What the world has hardened, children can quickly melt away. Life can never be complete without a family and this does not only mean having a life partner, but having children as well. What kind of life would it be if one came home everyday to an empty house devoid of children's laughter and toys lying about the house? Children not only give warmth to the house, they not only make it more complete but they also serve to bring two people even closer together. They have the ability to change lives in so many ways. People become more sensitive to both the things and people around them and they no longer pursue material desires by the heart but rather the heart pursuing a head .full of pig-tails. Consider the joys of parenthood, of simply watching a child grow... consider it all.

Children give us the real purpose for living, and life would be meaningless without them.

God article. There are many legitimate reasons for not having children. Selfishness is rarely a factor.
