Now, there are a few tips to be borne in mind, before going in for the final purchase-
(1)
There should be good compatibility between your trailer and the environment. The choice should not be too difficult, considering that boat trailers are patterned to suit varied terrains and different types of boating. Additionally, weather conditions have no adverse effect on them. Rust is allowed nowhere near a boat trailer. Choose marine water (seas and oceans) or fresh water (lakes and rivers)--your boat can be safely launched into any water body.
(2)
How wonderful it would be if you could just drive your boat onto the trailer? Even better, so close to the winch that additional winching up of just a few inches would be needed? Well then, you can go in for a boat trailer that offers "drive on" facility.
(3)
Traveling on a highway is not safe without lights. So, the trailer's lights would be better off, sealed. And if they offer protection against water, what more could you ask for?
(4)
Again, if your boat weighs 2,500, for instance, a trailer with the same carrying capacity would be ridiculous! In actual fact, the combined weight of your fishing boat, gear, and motor should equal the mid-range of your boat trailer's carrying capacity.
(5)
Many a time, you might wish to travel for long distances. Tires with a larger diameter can ensure longevity since the number of their rotations per mile is less. The tire treads refuse to wear out easily. Wheels with a large diameter provide the same service; they too have less rotations per mile. Thus, the wheel bearings remain intact.
(6)
Of course, it goes without saying that a spare tire would be a good investment in case of long journeys. After all, you do not want to be saddled with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere-sunshine or darkness!
(7)
Despite all the well-intentioned advice mentioned above, many people would still consider it a waste of money to buy a boat trailer. Or they would end up splurging on the boat, but skimping on the trailer. Either way, they are going to end up as losers! Now, where would you rather be-at the winning end or the losing end?
