Would You Pay Two Million Dollars to Have Dinner with a Famous Person?
More Extravagant Purchases from EBay
In past years, all sorts of things have sold on eBay. You can sell most anything on this popular online auctions site. People have tried to sell items of all shapes and sizes Items listed in this online shopping site are as diverse as the people who frequent the auctions. It seems that no matter what you have, there's someone out there who will buy it.
A 350-year-old copy of "Pericles, Prince of Tyre' by Shakespeare was recently sold on eBay for the sum of $5 million dollars. This book, a priceless artifact is one of the few pieces of work by Shakespeare which managed to survive the great fire of London.
A Chinese businessman recently paid the sum of $2.1 million dollars for the honor of having lunch with the one and only billionaire, Warren Buffet. Zhao Danyang won the auction, with all proceeds subsequently going to charity.
A Gulf Stream II jet sold for $4.5 million dollars. This twin-engine corporate jet can accommodate up to 14 passengers in luxury and has a range of just over 4,000 miles. Only 258 ever built. For that kind of money, it would have to fly itself.
Sadly, this didn't involve a trip into space, but instead a crypt, right above the late starlet, Marilyn Monroe. This crypt comes in a used condition as its previous tenant was moved in order to accommodate the sale. It was originally owned by Joe DiMaggio who reportedly sold the resting place after his divorce.
A few years ago, in what was perhaps amazing PR stunt or an amazingly expensive one, boat design firm 4Yacht actually sold not the boat, but a 50% deposit. The cost was a startling $85 million dollars, and the future owner of this floating palace? The one and only Roman Abramovich.

Post a Commentmaybe after I paid everything else off, lol. High 5 on a great article.
Heck no!
Interesting what people will buy!
A G2 for 4.5 Million sounds like a pretty good deal, considering that a new 6-passenger jet will cost that much! In case you hadn't guessed, this is one of the reasons most people don't own their own jets!
No, but if they want to give ME two million, I may deign to eat with one or two.
Nope! I wouldn't pay two cents to have a meal with most famous people! Good series, Faye!
Nope. :)
I can't even comprehend that kind of money, but I know I wouldn't be on eBay!
Nope I would not. I'd give the money to charity if I had it.
I wouldn't even if I had the money...but it is an interesting concept Faye.
