Veterans Day is a time to remember and honor those who have sacrificed for our country. Honoring our Veterans should be an every day event. Non profit organizations like Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) go the extra step in honoring and assisting our veterans continuously.

Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) announced a teaming arrangement today with Veterans Advantage. Wounded Warrior Project is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization with headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida. The organization joined forces today with Veterans Advantage (www.veteransadvantage.com) to give wounded warriors a free membership to the discount and savings program. Veterans Advantage is a card membership program which provides savings and discounts to military members. Membership to Veterans Advantage is $59.95 per year. The membership costs will be waived for Wounded Warriors.

The Wounded Warrior Project has established a Transition Training Academy (http://vetstta.org/) which will be the Veterans Day feature on ABC World News with Charlie Gibson. Transition Training Academy is a program to assist wounded warriors in job employment. The program, a joint effort of the Dept of Labor, CISCO, and the Office of Disability Employment Policy is administered by the Wounded Warrior Project. Transition Training Academy gives wounded warriors the chance to explore a career in Information Technology. There are currently three Transition Training Academy sites located at Naval Medical Center, San Diego (NMCSD); Brooke Army Medical Center Hospital (BAMC) located at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX; and Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Gordon, GA.

Wounded Warrior Project sponsors other programs such as WWP Soldier Ride, a rehabilitative cycling program which helps wounded warriors return to an active lifestyle. The WWP also teams with Disabled Sports USA to provide a year round sports program for severely wounded veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

On Veterans Day and every other day, wounded warriors and there families struggle to return their life to normal. Wounded Warrior Project and their partners strive to make this process a little less stressful.
