Wounds

Louisa Burgess
Wounds cut deep
slice sideways and
draw blood

Wounds burn hot
blister quickly
and scar

Wounds heal
but sometimes not
lasting forever

Wounds inflict pain
that eases with time
or get worse

Wounds can be small
fester and grow
into your soul

Wounds to the skin
to the mind
and to the heart

Wounds, unfortunately, are inevitable when running the gauntlet of Life, Louisa. Knowing this beforehand is no protection; wounds still hurt. Especially hurtful are the "unkindest cuts" from those we never suspected were capable of such harm. Retribution seems a means to overcoming the pain; it's not. Only forgiveness enables healing. Be Well, Michael

So true! Physical wounds heal a lot quicker than emotional/spiritual wounds.
