Wrap it Up: Lunch with a Picker

'X Men' First, but Last; Huh?

Tim O'Brien
Wrap It Up commented this to the family recently. "A lot of people have stupid things in their backyards." Now, please, enough with those bouncy houses and such. Many want to get rid of Ronald McDonald. I say get rid of those ridiculous danger zones. Of course I do not. It's all about freedom. But, I do see them all over. A bit of an eyesore.
- "American Pickers Weekend" from the History
Channel opened up in LeClaire, Iowa June 4-5. Congrats to those who won the Lunch With A Picker: Robert Jones of Sedalia, MO; Brad Duesler of Middleton, WI and Kathy Washburn of Kewanee, IL. Along with Danielle and Cody, on hand was Roy
Flachs - - "Mushroom" Antique Appraisal Show.
- Before we jump into the BO let's remember what the Dump It column noted on Friday. It is a crowded field of movies out there. Because they have to share those theaters, we will see.
WEEKEND BO
1. "X Men: First Class" - $56 million
2. "Hangover 2" - $32.4 million
3. "Kung Fu Panda 2" - $24.3 million

Notes: It was a weak class this time around for the "X" franchise with its lowest opening. That doesn't mean it's a bad movie, one must remember. We are
just reporting the numbers and what they mean. However, it was on a whopping 6,900 (3,641 locations) screens. So, even worse, I suppose. Meanwhile, "Hangover 2" fell 62 percent in its second week. "Midnight in Paris" finally goes wide on
June 10 after an impressive showing so far. Still looking ahead, "Super 8" looks real intriguing. J.J. ("Lost") Abrams takes us on a this journey.
- History Channel and Jimmy Kimmel have their best months ever in May. Absolutely no correlation between the two. And the biggest and real winner of the late night wars is "Nightline."
- Please, let's retire the phrase, "Die Hard Cubs Fans" for a while.
