a head on collision
between how my life was
and my new reality.
my train of thought now derailed
and body of evidence thus far
shows something's gone amiss.
my right side's now my wrong side
and I'm not sure what's left.
I just know
it's
not
quite
right.

Post a CommentThank you Joyce and Verna. This poem was written when I didn't really know what had gone wrong, just that something had. I am working toward greater understanding of my new life now, and I feel far more in control of what is happening. MS is a crazy thing, it affects us all differently, at the same time as it draws us together.
Keep your chin up. I am bipolar since 1980 and my brother, Vincent, has parkinson's disease. I think we are better people for set back. I'll bet you are a better person now.
Very poignant poem.
Thank you so much Sonya. I was supposed to be putting together a poetry collection on a completely different theme. I'm hoping I can get that project back on the rails - it was put off the rails, not wrecked. The support I'm getting here has been great.
Beautiful poem Carolyn! You should save up these poems and think about producing an anthology.
