I totally fell for it and picked up a pack of Wrigley's 5 Elixir Sugar Free Gum in the Mouthwatering Berry flavor. I thought I was actually buying Stride, the gum that lasts forever, but I forgot the name of it, and bought 5 accidentally, because it comes in a similar package. I realized I picked up the wrong gum once I left the store.
Anyhow, I'd never tried the 5 gum before, but I thought it would be tasty because it comes in the coolest packaging I've ever seen gum wrapped in. 15 pieces of the Wrigley's gum is sold in an all black case with fuchsia accents. It's very sleek and sexy so it makes this gum seem like it's more for adults. Inside, the sticks of 5 Elixir Mouthwatering Berry are wrapped in fuchsia foil.
One stick of the Mouthwatering Berry gum has 2g of carbohydrates, and contains ingredients like sorbitol, aspartme, acesulfame, and BHT.
I popped a stick of the pale pink Wrigley gum a few minutes after I bought the pack and I was immediately disappointed by it. The flavor was a lot blander than I expected. I thought there would be a huge burst of juicy berry flavor, but it was only mildly sweet.
I guess the "Elixir" that Wrigley refers to are a few, less than mouthwatering, flavor crystals that added a bit of sour flavor to this 5 gum. That sour taste disappeared within thirty seconds of chewing this gum.
After the initial burst of flavor, Wrigley's 5 Mouthwatering Berry gum basically tasted like a chewed up piece of strawberry flavored Bubbalicious gum. The little bit of flavor that it has doesn't taste too good, it's very artificial-tasting and bitter. And even that small amount of flavor disappears within two minutes of chewing one piece. So it wasn't even worth my time to chew this gum.
In the End...
I won't be buying any more packs of Wrigley's 5 Elixir Mouthwatering Berry Sugar Free Gum again, nor will I be buying any other flavor. This gum doesn't taste good, and it didn't leave my mouth feeling fresh, it just left a bad taste in it. It's gross and a waste of $1.40. I give it 0 out of 5 stars.
