There are Information Sources out there
Look for the scientific perspective. Over the last several years many companies have begun specific research projects directed toward men's skin. Who are they and where do you find them?
What are the differences? Okay, so we know men and women are different, but is our skin different too? Yes. Just like every other piece or portion of our anatomy, our largest organ, the skin, varies between the sexes. So, how do you make sure you are taking care of your skin the right way?
Popular resources may not always be the best way of searching for trustworthy information, but they are a good place to begin. Products usually become famous/popular for only one of two reasons. One, they work like there is no tomorrow. Or two, someone with a lot of money is backing the product and it's been pushed to success. Well, I don't know about you but I don't like to waste my money. I would leverage a guess neither do the majority of sponsors, even if they do have a lot of it. Knowing what to do with it is exactly how they accumulated a lot of money to begin with. So, maybe checking out some of those famous celebrity endorsements may be a good place to begin the search?
Science or Silliness?
Look for scientific, researched information, not just the hoopla surrounding a pretty product. Visit pg.com where you can find researched data with a backbone from Proctor & Gamble a long trusted friend of the American household. Since 1890 when they started their first research and development program P&G have wanted to base their products on the proof. Check out their index on skin information for a host of information. You can find everything from acne and aging to men's skin and moisturizers. This abundance of knowledge is brought to you by Dr. John Gray and the P&G Skin Care Research Center. You've heard the saying about all your eggs in one basket, right? Well, LabSeries: Skin care for men is another excellent resource on the exact science of shaving, protection, and skin care. LabSeries was begun in 1987 with a man's focus at the heart of the business. The Lab Series Research Center is run by doctors and scientist producing a high end, spa quality, full service line for excellent man care.
Men are not Permanent-Press.So how are we different?
Well, when they say we're thick skinned, they aren't kidding. We do have thicker skin than our female counterparts. We also secrete greater amounts of oil from our pores. These factors do indeed force a need for variations in our individual skin care needs. Oh yeah, one last difference that is always the big one.
Hormonal differences due to testosterone and estrogen are very significant. Not only do hormones affect moods, strength, temperatures, etc. but even the surface of who we are.
