Wristwatch Review: Armitron Diamond Men's Analog Dress Watch

Sometimes you have to man up like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood. But, on more formal occasions, you might need to man up like Cary Grant. That means suiting up, dressing in a respectable collared shirt, and looking smooth, suave, and debonair. It can be a challenge to dress well on a budget, but the Armitron Diamond Men's Analog Dress Watch can help. At a retail price of about $40, the Armitron Diamond watch gives you the elegant look of a far more expensive timepiece.

While Armitron Diamond watches come in many shapes and band combinations, my Armitron Diamond typifies the breed. My Armitron Diamond Men's Analog Dress Watch has a stainless-steel expansion band, a stainless steel case and bezel, a black or graphite colored face with gold-toned hashes at three, six, and nine o'clock and an actual diamond at 12 o'clock. The case and band are predominantly stainless in color, but have gold toned highlights around the bezel and to demark the the edges of every other band link. The hour hand, minute hand, and second hand are all gold in color. In styling, the Armitron Diamond works to provide an elegant, understated, and masculine look.

While the Armitron Diamond men's analog dress watch looks elegant, it is a tough watch. It is water resistant to 165 feet and has a stainless steel body, back, and band. My Armitron watch has had no problem with the heat and humidity of a north Florida summer. The Armitron Diamond watch easily shrugged off sweat and quick transitions between the air conditioned comfort of the car and office and the Venus-like Florida summer atmosphere. Of course, the Armitron Diamond men's analog watch is made for more elegant settings.

The Armitron Diamond looks good in the workplace. It is more comfortable than my Walmart Automatic watch and more elegant than my Casio men's analog dress watch. On my 8 and 1/2 inch wrists, the expandable watch band expands a little, fits well, and does not pinch arm hairs or dig into my wrists. It is easy to wear the Armitron Diamond all day and type on a keyboard without discomfort. The case is only 5/16-inch thick and consequently this elegant wristwatch will slide beneath the cuffs of a dress shirt or suit jacket without any problem. With a 1 and 3/16-inch diameter watch face, the Armitron Diamond is readable from a distance.

It's hard to come up with drawbacks for a watch that I really like, but there are a few minor nits about my Armitron Diamond. First, since the watch only has hashes at three, six, and nine o'clock, it's a little hard to be precise in reading the exact time. In addition, the actual diamond in the Armitron Diamond men's analog dress watch is very small. It appears to be a tiny diamond chip surrounded by a small piece of of foil. However, the Armitron Diamond men's analog watch successfully captures the style, elegance, and sophistication of a far more expensive watch. For example, similarly styled Movado watches cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars more. Unlike a high dollar Swiss watch, anyone can add an Armitron Diamond men's analog watch to their watch box after a short trip to a big box retailer like Target.

Overall, I recommend the Armitron Diamond men's analog watch for any man seeking to bring a sophisticated style into his collection.
