Wristwatch Review: Mossimo Digital Watch from Target
A Bold Band and Big Face Make for a Practical Watch
Big, bold, readable men's watches are in. If you watch the home shopping channels on cable, you'll see lots of big watches. Many of them dwarf the wrists of the rather wimpy hosts. However, if you want a big watch that you can afford without going on an easy payment plan, you need only go to your local Target store. They sell many big, bold, watches by Mossimo. Since these watches are only $20, they are also openly displayed on a shelf and you don't have to wait for help at a jewelry counter. You can just find one you like, throw it in your cart, and roll.
I've been pleased with my Mossimo Men's Analog Watches so it was pretty easy for my wife to convince me that I should try one of their digital watches. The Mossimo (model FMDMO103) is about two inches in diameter and nearly half an inch thick. Like most budget watches, it has a stainless steel back and a base metal bezel. The watch comes with a bold blue rubber band that accomodates most wrist sizes. Since the band is nearly an inch wide, it supports the big watch well and keeps it from rotating round the arm.
The face of the watch is ringed by numbers at ten minute intervals interspaced with five minute hashmarks. For the first fifteen minutes (from 12 to 3 o'clock), there are even tiny hashmarks at 1 minute intervals. Beneath the crystal, there are tick marks for every second. All of this styling is quite whimsical because the watch is fully digital. It just doesn't make any sense to have tick marks on a watch without hands. However, all the styling nonsense comes together in a no nonsense package because this watch simply works.
This Mossimo watch also works well as a digital watch. It has a Chinese-made FMD module and uses a CR2025 battery. The button positions at 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock are clearly labeled as START, RESET, MODE, and LIGHT respectively. Since the watch is not overloaded with functions, it is easy to operate. You get a stopwatch and an alarm. Each can be operated without referring to the instructions. I appreciate the simplicity of this digital watch because nothing is more annoying than a cheap digital watch that won't stop beeping.
Overall, this Mossimo brand digital watch is a winner. It simply works well and looks good. For $20 at Target, it's very difficult to beat this watch. The Mossimo digital watch offers trendy designer style, bold colors, and basic functionality in an affordable package.

Post a CommentJust got this watch because I love that I can actually read the time without my reading glassses! Unfortunately I can't get the alarm to work. I set the alarm and when the time arrives the symbols flash but no sound. Won't do me much good on my travels. Any ideas out there? If not, back to Target.
