Write Your Book Press Release

Jamie Brown
At last! You've finally printed and published your book. You completed countless revisions with your book cover designer and layout artist, and now finally the PDFs and cover files have been sent on over to your book printer. But now what? You surely shouldn't sit on your hands as you wait for your book shipment to arrive. This is the perfect time to start writing your book press release.

You can just go ahead and find someone to write your book press release for you, but let's say that you would like to take a stab at it yourself. In this article you'll find a simple step by step guide for writing a press release that really pops! A great press release may even get you noticed by a newspaper or other publication if you have a really good angle.

1) Develop your angle for the book press release. The best press releases come with a strong back-story. Did anything very memorable take place in your life that guided you to this moment where you're in the process of publishing your own book? For example, perhaps you recently found out that you were adopted after 40 years. This might have prompted you to write a book about adoptions-your adoption story is your angle. Tie your angle in with something that is current and news worthy whenever possible.

2) Begin your book press release with a striking title that is centered around your angle. That might be "After 40 Years, Author Learns that He is Adopted." The sub heading, which comes directly after the title, should succinctly describe the topic with more information.

3) Start off the main content of the book press release with a strong, thought provoking, and even clever first sentence.

4) Discuss your trials and tribulations in the next few lines of your press release. Keep it short.

5) Mention the complete title of the book around the middle of the press release, and then write a little more about how this book release relates to the author's personal background. Insert a quote from the author about the book and the writer's backstory. Include any recent successes.

6) List the book name once more and let the reader know where the book is sold. You can send the reader to Amazon or your own personal book promotion website.

When you're done writing your book press release, look it over and make changes as necessary. You might just want to hire someone from Craigslist to edit it for you professionally. Next is the really exciting part... presenting your release to the general public.

As early as tomorrow morning your press release could be displayed to thousands of people when you post it on PRWeb. PRWeb's PR service allows you to submit your book press release to book lovers and media personnel in a matter of minutes. You'll then be able to track the progress of your release, including the number of people who clicked, saved, and/or forwarded your release onto to colleagues and friends. This is how you will determine the success of the press release.

Imagine getting your book discussed in a paper after a simple $80 investment? You just can't top that type of return when it comes to book advertising.
