Write a Great Ezine

If you have a mailing list for your business, you need to make sure that your ezine isn't the run-of-the-mill, boring email that so many are. It doesn't help you a bit if your subscribers are deleting your email as soon as it arrives in their inbox! So, what can you do to keep your readers interested and not deleting or unsubscribing? Here are a few tips.

First, you need to offer quality information. If you are just tossing a couple of free articles into your ezine and sending it off, no one will stick around long to read it. Take the time to write at least 50% of your own content, even if you aren't the world's greatest writer. People will appreciate that not everything is copied and will be more likely to read your ezine.

Limit your ads to increase readers. Who likes to open an email that is nothing but ads? No one. Not even when those ads are relevant. Besides, if you are doing a popular niche, like internet marketing, chances are that your readers are getting a dozen emails with the same announcements. So, go ahead and put ads in your ezine, but keep the content level high as well.

Add something of yourself to the ezine. Let your readers know who you are. Don't fill the whole email up with stories about your dog, but adding a few personal tidbits is a good way to connect with your readers and help them feel that you are a real person, not just an automatic ezine generator.

Keep it easy to read. Don't write your ezine in weird fonts or colors. Keep it nice and simple and your readers will appreciate it. Fonts that are easy on the eyes, such as Arial and New Times Roman are good. Make sure they aren't too small, either. Fonts for email should be a minimum of 10 pts. for easy reading. Don't make your subscribers strain to see your words!

You will need to make sure that you limit solo ads as well. These can be a great way to earn money, but if you want people to keep reading, don't bombard them with full-on ads. One or two a month should suffice. Otherwise, your readers will come to think of your ezine as just an ad generator and will either unsubscribe or delete you immediately.

Ezines can be valuable marketing tools, but only if you use them wisely. Don't make your readers delete your emails!
