Writer Tips for Writing Walt Disney World Articles

B. Hopkins
Everyday writers have the opportunity to choose their writing topic. Sometimes we choose topics that are popular or trending. Other times we gravitate to what we know best. For the writer who is also a Walt Disney World (WDW) fan, there are many ways to share your passion and knowledge of the vacation destination.

Consider three tips when writing Walt Disney World articles.

Understand the title.

All writers need to understand the title of the article before writing. Misunderstanding the title can lead to an off-topic article or unfocused article. To avoid being off-topic with Walt Disney World articles consider these basic rules.

1. Walt Disney World or Disney World refers to the entity that is the entire property or resort. WDW is all the parks, all the resorts and anything else on the more than 30,000-acre property. WDW is not Disneyland. They are two different resorts in two different states.

2. When "best" is in the title, be wary. Best does not mean favorite. When writing a WDW article about any of the "best" attributes, clarify early what makes it the best. Just because you loved the Tea Cup ride as a child does not necessarily make it a best ride in the Magic Kingdom.

Fact check.

Fact checking for a Walt Disney World article is one of the easiest checks to do. Disney.com has a quick link to the WDW parks. From there it is easy to access information about rides, dining, shopping, policies and even park maps. It is all there with correct spellings. Note that some of the rides have unique spellings and capitalization. For example, it is Mission: SPACE not Mission: Space. FASTPASS should appear in all caps with the registered trademark symbol. The symbol can be found by using the symbols option when submitting an article to the Write Now box.

Another source is AllEars.net. This is a great source for current information on construction issues, menu updates and more. If you cannot find what you are looking for at either online source, simply call (407) 824-2222, the main phone number for Walt Disney World. The cast members are always more than willing to answer Disney World questions.

Fact checking is always advised when offering Helium readers price lists or vacation package costs as this type of information may change throughout the calendar year.

Follow the Disney Parks Blog.

If you are planning to write several Disney World articles, this can be a great source of up-to-the-minute information. You can either check the blog daily at DisneyParksBlog@disney.com or subscribe to it and have it sent to your email each time it has something new. Checking in on the Disney Parks blog may also inspire you to create new Walt Disney World articles.

Writing Disney World articles can be both fun and profitable. Disney World and WDW vacations are frequently searched topics on the internet. By making it SEO worthy, your Disney World article could quickly become one of your highest earners.
