So, I guess I'm not too shocked that I have also inherited said trait. I'll talk more to nobody in particular in an online article than I will say anything to other people face to face. If someone asks me how I'm doing; I always reply "fine." My mom tells people that I could be near death and I would still reply "fine."
Today I was baking two double batches of cookies. A double batch of peanut butter cookies and a double batch of a shortbread cookie recipe that uses dry jello as one of the key ingredients. If you want the recipes just e-mail me at iluvmt2@midrivers.com and put "cookie recipes" in the subject line. I will be happy to give them to you. I'm doing this as an experiment to see how many people actually read my articles. I'm usually a bit disappointed at the numbers that show up on Associated....not money wise.......just because I'm maybe---helping people giggle over something.
Well, back to the cookies. I was baking because my son requested peanut butter cookies. I had made a batch last week but they disappeared as fast as I was baking them. I had to quickly rescue 2 dozen cookies for the "Midrivers Guys"---who love to have my experiments on hand with their morning coffee. When I'm baking cookies one recipe is never enough, I always have to double the recipe in order to have enough for everyone.
Today I wasn't keeping track of how many dozen I made. Now I know I should have. By the time I was done I had about 6 peanut butter cookies and a dozen jello cookies left. I had to hide one of each kind for my mom--she had requested a peanut butter cookie after my last baking session. I had to tell her they were gone. Poof....into thin air. Her grandson and great granddaughters had eaten most of them and two dozen went to "the guys."
In this batch of cookies I sent 10 cookies to a friend of my graddaughters---one she had a fight with---this was to make up and say we are truly sorry for our part of what happened, a dozen cookies to a neighborhood couple who helped my youngest granddaughter the day before by bringing her home when she had a fight with her best friend and was walking by their house in tears.
My two granddaughters each wanted two dozen cookies to take to all the kids and teachers in their home rooms at school. That meant that Annie took a dozen peanut butter and a dozen jello cookies and Julianna took a dozen peanut butter and a dozen jello cookies. By this time it was the time of day when we all need a sugary pick me up (around 4:00 p.m.)---so a couple of cookies got eaten by whoever was in the house.
We had supper---then my daughter arrived from work to retrieve her children and explained that her DVR was on the fritz and she put in a work order to "the Midrivers guys" for them to fix it (and) on the work ticket she had promised them cookies. Unbeknownst to me, my oldest granddaughter was texting her mom and informing her that "grandma is baking lots and lots of cookies!" (Gee, thanks, Annie!)
That meant another dozen was going out the door. I packaged up a dozen of the jello cookies for our hard-working cable guys. This would be a new experiment for them. THEN my daughter informed me that her significant other and his son will be wanting some cookies too, so could she take some home to them? Oh no, another "to go" package was retrieved from the pantry and I gave them six peanut butter and six jello cookies. Good grief. I had just gotten done with 8 hours of baking and all I had left were a measly 6 peanut butter and a dozen jello cookies. So, if your brain is working better than mine, you can add up all the different amounts and let me know how many cookies I actually made. It's time for me to relax!
