Research
The hardest part about writing is figuring out what your main idea is. Blogs are interesting because you can use them in several ways. You can they can be used as a journal, as a place to put short articles of interest for others to read and a news bulletin of sorts
If you choose to use your blog as a journal or diary, there isn't a lot of planning to be done. You would simply begin writing and see what happens. If your blog is used for opinions or for articles however, you will need to do some research to find ideas. Figure out what interests you. Use what you have to come up with your topic. After choosing a topic, crate an outline of the main points you want to include. This step may seem boring, but it will make the other steps much easier, so be sure not to skip it.
Choose Your Approach
After you have chosen your topic and have your outline, you will need to choose your tone. The best blogs have a casual and welcoming tone, which is a good idea for most beginning writers. Choose a tone that is like the one you would use when communicating with your partner or a best friend. The tone should be friendly and casual.
Start your blog entry
When you begin your blog entry, don't forget the tone you chose for it. While making sure you have the tone in mind, have your outline ready and start writing. Your entries should be short, but long enough to be useful and, interesting. Your first or second sentence should include your main points. Don't run on or you will lose readers. Your post should be between 300 and 700 words. This may be too long sometimes, but once you begin writing, you'll notice it does not take a lot of time for the post to get to that point. Always remember to write in a casual tone. Write like you would speak. Stay clear of large words that some people may not understand. Try to come up with interesting, yet simple and easy to understand posts that all your readers will enjoy.
Edit and submit
After the writing finished with, it is a good idea to always edit what you wrote. Editing is sometimes tedious, but if you want for a blog to look professional, you should go over most, if not all, of your work. Try to find wrongly spelled words and commonly made mistakes. Although you might not be paying to much attention to grammar, all words should be correctly spelled. After you are sure your blog entry is free of mistakes, it is time to begin submitting it to your blog.
